A lot of useful information. Thank you. However you didn't mention about the trail running shoes. Low budget trail running shoes like Asics Gel venture 8 and some adidas terrex models. Can the asics shoe be used in Bhaba pass trek? What will the drawbacks compared to regular trekking shoes in similar price bracket and what benefits can we get of those ? A reply would be very much appreciated :)

Trail runners do not have Rick plates to save weight. Unless you just walk rail trails and the like, you’ll want that rock plate. Cheers

Hi Brother , I have an query please help me in this. Now new Mh500 hiking shoe are available at decathlon store, 1. Is it a good buy? 2. should we buy one size bigger in case of hiking shoes also like in trekking shoes to maintain 1 finger gap?? 3. can I use these shoes for multi day trekking since I am not comfortable with high ankle MT100 decathlon trekking shoes due to high ankle?

brother for multiday treks I prefer sports shoe specially when there is a good trail coz of breathability,of you want to carry only one shoe then go with newer model

what do you mean by moderate trekking,you should choose trekking shoe on the basis of wather & season ,not on the basis of terrain because majority of trails are established,well maintained & modern day trekking shoes are quite capable even budget shoes,but for winters and rainy season ,you should purchase a waterproof and insulated shoe,so I will suggest 100 , although both shoes are not breathable at all😁

i think you can't find any trail running shoe in this price range.you can purchase a running shoe but without any rock plate in sole. Basically rock plate in trail running shoe is best for feet protection & comfort from sharp pointy rocks🙏

Thank you for the great content! Loved it! Can you please share your opinion on renting shoes for treks? I am going to Kedarkantha (IndiaHikes) in Feb and expecting lot of snow in there. I am leaning to renting shoes, as good quality shoes are expensive to buy and this will be my first trek (not sure if I'd like to continue trekking or not in the future after this trek). Is renting from IndiaHikes a good idea? Thinking of Trek100, but saw your review, and thinking that may not be waterproof enough for the winter snow there. Can you please advice?

sorry for late reply,I was on a trek. Renting is best option if you're an occasional trekker,for winter condition go for a waterproof shoe, because snow usually don't penetrate but in kedarkanta trek there is lots of snow ,via melting water eventually get inside the shoe so go for decathalon waterproof shoe which you will find in any trekking company rental options,don't buy

Thanks for the information. I have one query: i regularly do trekking in Gujarat and Maharashtra. i have Quechua (MH 100 mid wtp e vm brown) shoes purchased from decathlon. which is comfortable and grip is fine. but it fails on wet rocks. it slips on wet rocks. there is not any grip on wet rocks. i see all shoes in decathlon have same material of outer sole (i think hard rubber sole). while i have sports shoes and it works well on wet rock but not comfortable for 4-5 hours of trek. it has soft sole. can you explain about it and tell me which shoes is best for wet rocks? Thanks.

I think trail running shoes are the best option.They have hard sole with rock plate for cushion,while breathable, because the area you trek regularly is quite wet and humid throughout the year,so choose trail running shoe, I will send some suggestions but have to wait
