There’s lots of hype around Skool and ‘growth operating’ and other community things right now. So I would love to hear more of your thoughts on communities. Things like where they might work and where they definitely don’t, etc. You come across super authentic in all your content and I think you could save people lots of confusion on this. (Big fan)

I just asked the same thing. I have a free SKOOL community with about 175 members and free courses included. Still wondering whether it’s a good funnel to run as I’m struggling to get anyone to engaged, even with the free courses I’ve made for them

In my opinion high maintenance. Sam Ovens is using everyone to market himself. You could of built a community on wordpress years ago ... it's not rocket science. Might work for some niches ... but be very careful. Monetizing on $49/month is much tougher then charging a high ticket program. Tate has that model but again you'll have to find a marketing source which will make $$ sense to acquire a customer.

Skool is an awesome platform, and Sam is a legend. But it's a layer of complexity that in my opinion 80% of online education businesses don't need. Communities are the blind leading the blind usually, that's why I don't have one and never have. With that said, some niches benefit massively from having a community. But most don't. All it does is allow people who don't really know what they're doing to make ill-informed and incorrect suggestions to people who also don't know what they're doing, along with sucking time and energy from the founder of the community unnecessarily. For 80% of my clients, I suggest against a community and for 20% of my clients I strongly suggest a community. All comes down to the niche, deliverables and the outcome being sold 👍

Love this video. I've been debating as to whether people would be interested in a quitting / reducing alcohol idea as I've been virtually sober (save for 1 or 2 odd drinks) since 2019 now. I am going to make this into an education business. Thanks William! I work in the City which has a massive drinking culture so could be a good idea to target these people given they fall into my background quite nicely.

I have a lot of experience with Google Ads, but not sure how to position my offer because I could create a generic course that covers everything about the ads platform or niche it down to business owners in a specific industry (local biz or ecom). Ecom owners want sales while local businesses want leads, so I could also keep my YT channel broad and just niche down on my programs, or maybe 2 separate YT channels would be better? Based on my research, most of the ads coaches do not target specific niches and just teach everything about the ads platform, but not sure if that is the best solution.

Hi William, this video literally came at the perfect time as I’ve been struggling this past week to find a niche so thank you! The niche I’ve been considering is an online public speaking/ communications course. My biggest worry is that it is not a specific enough niche and there may not really be a market for it. I’ve done my research and found that’s while it’s true that a lot of people have some anxiety of fear of public speaking, the amount of people that would actually pay for a course on it seems low. I know you can’t select my niche for me but I would really like to know your opinion on whether this niche could work in getting me to those 6 figures a month essentially.

There's huge demand for this, especially in the corporate world, and the high-level entrepreneur world, too. I know a program that's $6,000 for a one-day public speaking workshop alone. You could do very well in this niche if you build your offer, sales process and deliverables and pricing properly. Thanks for the kind words. It's impossible to just network with high-level people as no-one will meet you unless you have value to add or already have a fairly significant brand. We're all busy building things. One option would be to either pay for time with someone i.e. $1K for an hour of someone's time over coffee or something, or buy your way into a mastermind event and get in a room with high-level people that way etc. The latter is how I first met all of my successful friends. From there, you get introduced to others and your circle grows 💪

Well done on getting 175 members. But if it's free to join, that is your first mistake. Free attracts people who don't value what they're getting, don't value you, and are not buyers. Buyers buy, freebie seekers only get free things. So i'd stop that immediately. I ran a successful esports organisation that's had investors, sponsors worked with major players and teams, for just over 5 years and I was looking to create a course on how to start your own esports team, and also how to become an esports player (market yourself, what orgs look for etc...) in the future. I was just curious if you thought this has legs or not? Running an esports organisation doesn't exactly make you money... it's more about relying on funding/ investment, sponsorship, media rights etc.

Yeah i think a Skool community would be great for fitness, as it's a journey-based offer where people often want to share their progress and development. But i wouldn't lead with it, i'd lead with a high-ticket offer and add the community in as a deliverable 💪

I have an idea for a niche course in my mine line of work (commercial property investment) Obviously plenty of people doing courses in this industry, who I believe chance it quote a lot and have got anything to back it up. The question how do you get over imposter syndrome? How do you get over the gaps in your knowledge of questioned? Thanks

Imposter syndrome can be combatted by being truthful with yourself about your skillset and accolades. If you have those, you've no reason to have imposter syndrome 🙌

Will, there are a lot of women online making tons of money with “lifestyle” channels. People like their “brands” and they do affiliate stuff and the like. What if what you know seems more general, like it includes being healthier and generally cooler, setting goals and reaching them, but you don’t have a specific laser-focused product like, lose ten pounds with my method? Is your advice to niche down on one little aspect of that? I feel like women are different (but maybe I’m wrong).

@@willia_mbrown I think I may have had an epiphany after listening to this actually. You know when it finally dawns on you that something you are good at, and completely take for granted, is not something innate to everyone, and you may be able to teach it? I had one of those moments. 😁

What I have personally realized is that people who have lifestyle/self improvement channels are making skool communities. They usually create two communities one for free and another paid. Then they try to funnel people from the free community into the paid one. Their paid communities are full of courses about various different lifestyle topics and have usually group coaching calls. My advice would be to do what I did back in the day: Save up the money for the mentor I want to hire. For ads, I run them on KZbin and Facebook and Instagram 👍

As a business owner I would be interested in taking a course about cutting and placing vinyl and window tint on windows for my business. Paying someone else to do it is insane but ordering vinyl off Vista Print is crazy inexpensive. I’m not going to be in the same office location forever so I think it would be worth it. Just wouldn’t imagine that is going to be a high ticket course. Probably would’ve spend more than $100 on it. Otherwise I’d move over to KZbin for tutorials and figure it out myself. HTH

Most only use paid ads, as it's the most reliable and controllable way to acquire clients at-scale. The remainder do either organic-only, or a combination of both 💪
