I dont know why your review have only 125 likes! You did the most complete review of toxic and non toxic mattresses. And yes! casper!!!! Many complain about the odor and yet VOC is there. Thanks

Your website claims Sleep on Latex doesn’t carry GOLS certification but they have for many years now. Is there a reason why your website suggests they don’t, and why they are only rated as OK stuff?

For those looking at the PURPLE and concerned about the plastic (avereage ~1 um particles:) " Respirable particles are generally less than 5 µm and may deposit in the deepest parts of the lungs were pulmonary gas exchange takes place. The ultimate fate of respirable particles that deposit into the deep lung spaces (alveolar sacs and respiratory bronchioles) depends on the chemical nature of the particle and the amount of particles deposited during a given exposure. For chemically non-reactive polyethylene particles, no chemical interaction will occur between the particles and lung tissue (alveolar epithelium) cells. Specialized immune system cells called alveolar macrophages are always present in the deep lung spaces. These cells move about the internal tissue surfaces of lungs, and engulf bacteria and other foreign objects like respirable particles. Once macrophages have engulfed foreign material such as polyethylene copolymer particles, they migrate from the lung spaces to local lymph nodes and the spleen. Bacteria and particles inside of the macrophages may be destroyed and degraded by specialized chemical systems within the macrophage. Macrophages that engulf particles may migrate to the lung lymph nodes or up the respiratory tree, where they are cleared to the esophagus and excreted. Respirable polyethylene copolymer particles that reach deep lung will not be absorbed and distributed around the body" This was straight from the third party toxicology study which can be found 2cy08palclf3zxibq1v48914-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Final-Polyethylene-Copolymer-Safety-Assessment-5.4.2017.pdf The conclusion is that "Therefore, there is no scientific or toxicological basis for suggesting that Purple® mattresses represent a consumer health risk" BUT...this quite contradictory to the paragraph shown above. The body may not break it down. It has limited fates 1. you cough it back up 2. swallow it....but can't get into your body? ( then you need to look at intestinal cell lines and M cells) 3. your macrophages swallow it like dust but may or may not be able to break it down...then it heads to lymph nodes or the spleen other concern: did they have equipment that can detect smaller than 0.2 um? there are not many tools that can detect that small. If LDPE nanoplastic powder is used the very small particulates would not be detectable and this would skew the average particle size higher. I do not claim to know safe or not. What is fact is: you may breathe in small plastic particles .... you all can determine for yourselves if that is ok with you or not at any level.... Purple I would have bought your mattress if you can just get rid of the plastic dust... Why can't anyone get it right? 1. non latex foam or polyurathane foam top NOT simple pillow top, no VOCs AKA NOT MEMORY FOAM or rebranded memory foam that has low VOC.... I MEAN NO VOC! Possible? If not I will vaccuum and filter the room during off gassing with a MoleKule molekule.com/ 3. no flame retardent 4. not an innerspring where is this mattress? essentially its a purple without the plastic nonsense.... anyone know? Purple why must you cake it in the powder? Why is it a must? anyone know which is the safest foam containing matress with the absolute lowest VOC off gassing and no flame retardent and no inner spring construction?

Personally I don't trust a single foam mattress from direct experience with a dozen different brands. Since trying a chemical-free latex mattress, it's like night and day difference. I no longer cough and sneeze throughout the night, and wake feeling amazing. Never going back. Don't fall for "good reviewed" mattress that are still shoddy and cheap nasty materials.

With so many things wrong with the average mattress - it would be easier to list the top five vendors that HAVE What WE WANT, and DO NOT have the negatives. Since it's so hard to find the "perfect", you you could assign a number to each mattress, BTW, respectfully, you're a knockout! And your daughter's super cool.

What beds are best without latex?

In Australia there is a hand-made wool mattress through organic stores. Otherwise latex is great, it's not as hot as people say.

I recently bought a chemical-free latex mattress. Sleep amazing. It's a shame that in today's age, we have to work hard to sleep on something chemical-free, with advancements in technology, but then again like he said it is an unregulated industry. So if you find a good chemical-free mattress, tell your friends.

Your blog article is the VERY best mattress guide I've found, THANK YOU! QUESTION: I'm trying to choose between a Savvyrest Serenity w/2 3 layers of dunlop vs Soaring Heart's all latex mattress or Zoned latex. You said you've slept on a Savvyrest and now the zoned Soaring Heart can you tell me which is more comfortable? Does the 5 zones make a big difference? I'm a side sleeper. The difference between the Savvyrest is only $151, with Soaring Heart Zoned being the more $$ one. But Soaring Heart's regular Latex mattress is $426 LESS than the Savvyrest. I'm slightly worried about how the Savvyrest mattresses are not 1 full piece of latex for the whole bed, and 1 piece for each side instead. BUT I don't live where I can go try lying on a Soaring Heart to even know how it feels. I did lie on Savvyrest mattresses near me. I would GREATLY appreciate any help and insight, and I thank you for your TIME in doing so! :) Kaitlin

Hi there! Having slept on all of these mattresses, I have to say that Soaring Heart's latex is just as comfortable as the pricier ones. For more help, email john@gimmethegoodstuff.org!

What evidence do you have that old matresses still off gas? This is seemingly a lack of understanding of what off gassing is.
@Christoff0705 жыл бұрын
Direct personal experience. If a substance does not agree with your body, even if most of it has off-gassed, it only takes a small amount to give horrible sleep, since your body is in such close proximity. Also, mattresses degrade over time, and more chemicals may be released from the -likely- synthetic core.
