Choosing a paramotor is TOUGH! This overview will get you started.
How do you determine which design is toughest, most powerful, right for you altitude, correct for your weight...? A lot goes into the answer to these questions. Check out his overview of paramotor design. I talk about:
1. Basics of paramotor design.
2. Design flaws to watch out for.
3. Safety features to look for.
There are tons of options out there - do not get suckered into a product based on price alone! That would be a HUGE mistake.
Poorly designed paramotors cost much more than well designed paramotors in the long run. Paramotors can last for many years if the they are well manufactured.
This video covers the design of the cage and netting of the powered paraglider.
Example of poor netting design:
www.voler.info/cms/images/inst...
www.americanparagliding.com/fr...
There are so many paramotor designs. Blackhawk Paramotors, Flat Top Paramotors, Fresh Breeze Paramotors, Parajet, Kangook, MiniPlane...the list goes on. Do your research and choose wisely. :)

It took me 4 minutes of watching the video (and a half dozen pauses) to realize that the beep was coming from the video, and not from my smoke or CO detectors. The traditional rule of thumb is to replace smoke detector batteries every time you change the clocks (twice a year, when daylight savings time begins and ends). I speak from experience in saying that if you do not do this, you will invariably spend 30 minutes at 2 am on the morning of an important meeting looking for a stepladder while you try to figure out which smoke detector is beeping, and it will ruin your night's sleep and day.

Thanks for the caution and warning regarding the netting. I'd even go one step further, and use a dab of glue on all the weave points of a net, to lock it in.

I live in the state of Illinois and was wondering if you know of anybody that you would recommend to me for learning how to fly in my area? Thank you again for giving me a view into what looks like the most amazing sport I have ever seen.

The Flat Top is the only unit competent pilots fly. 19 dead in a single year on other units. Zero in history on Flat Tops. I've trained about 500 people and only 2 of them died on paramotors. Both ignored their instructor and were flying units other then the Flat Top. So think about that. 500 people and the only 2 that died were flying the wrong gear. The Flat Top is absolutely life & death critical as is the Dominator paraglider. Huge gigantic differences with other gear. Call 800-707-2525 for all the specifics.

There is nothing about noise... I am interested in being a good neighbour and not disturbing people on the ground, do you have any advice about quiet paramotor engines ? Back when I was a teen, I used to ride bikes with expansion chambers which made a hell of a noise, just like the ones on paramotor engines.. then along came honda and bikes became a lot more popular and accepted. Is there a paramotor that I can use that will not make me hated by neighbours, they will just wave instead of writing letters to the local council trying to ban me ?
@superdellschanze9616
@superdellschanze9616 7 жыл бұрын
The Flat Top ranked 2nd quietest and the new motors are even quieter. Noise is just as much about the wing though because it's about efficiency and since the Dominator is the most efficient while loaded you simply use less power. Or if you don't mind being slower with less safety the blacklight would be the ultimate as it has over a 10:1 glide ratio. So if you want the lowest noise you get a Flat Top Ninja or 120 along with the Dominator or blacklight wings. Just call 800-707-2525 for all the specific details.

The netting on the right side seems off, that looks like an issue with workmanship? That kind if thing would irritate me, especially if I was paying 8-9k for a paramotor. If a company is gonna sell a product that helps a human become airborne, attention to detail is important. This is just my opinion.
@surfervince
@surfervince 9 жыл бұрын
Paramotoring 101. Only Start the motor on your back or when sitting in the harness. Then the prop is no danger and the netting is no issue. Education and training is more important than netting.

See, that the question with the flat top you can start the motor at any time the cage will never flex into the prop or any of it,s netting will never go into the prop. this cage is strong enough to stand on?/ you know that if you did your homework?? any other cage out there will get you cut up?? or killed but this cage and throttle control will not get you hurt.the netting on this unit is made of kevlar?? not nylon like the european pieces of shit are made of?? WATCH THE WHOLE VID?? BETTER YET TRY FLYING A PARAMOTOR?

Correct. When you see that dell guy on video and your first observation is "what a con artist tool" stay way. Then you see more videos with him talking away and then you think again "who is this con artist tool" and later you find out its this dell guy, stay away. I don't know how this guy makes any money with that attitude and reputation unless he is a successful scamer that gets the ocasional elder person to take the bait.

Someday someone will invent a super safe paramotor and wing that are safer than what we have today and they will become very rich and take over the whole paramotor world and become filthy rich!!!! There is sooooo many flaws in paramotors and wing that cause deaths and serious injuries but people ALWAYS say it was pilot error ! This is a sport where one little mistake can cause the end of your life and all these paramotors companies and instructors need to get there heads out of their asses and work together to make it as safe as it can possibly be!!!!! Maybe someday
