Sometimes I've picked out a peach that had would pass the indent test but it would be mealy and dry. 😟 And then, too, I've gotten peaches that were quite hard when I'd buy them, but after leaving them on the counter for 2 or 3 days were the absolute BEST!! Perfect peaches can be elusive sometimes! 😄

I had read that the stem area of the peach should smell like a peach. If not, put it back. You mentioned smelling it a little but your primary test was the feel. Until recently (6/20/23), most of the peaches in the various grocery stores were hard enough to use to drive nails. Thanks for your information, I'll feel a bunch more peaches next time I get to the store. The nectarines in my area (Las Vegas) did feel like you're suggesting and were marvelous, better than the peaches!! Thanks for the great information!

The best peach is still on the tree and falls into your hand with a very gentle pull. Or, if you happen to see one fall to the ground, then run grab it. Other-worldly, juice running off your chin, type flavor! Nonetheless, great advice for the store! Thanks.

I agree! Unfortunately, unless you live in a peach region, like Georgia, you have to rely on a delivered peach.

I always wait until my favorite produce market gets the Colorado peaches in. I can eat 3-4 of those a day!

I really enjoy your videos! I find the best peaches at the farmer's market. How do you pick a juicy and crunchy jicama?

Thanks for your suggestion for a jicama video. I will add that to the list.

I have picked up peaches that seemed ripe. Soft smelled peachy but when I ate it, it was mealy. The texture was bad. Why does that happen and how do I avoid it?❤

I remember in my childhood that peaches smelt incredibly good and today, despite the fact that they look delicious, they are hard and smell like grass. I don't buy peaches anymore.

Yes it's hard to find a perfectly good peach. There are many variables that have to come together for a perfect peach to grow. Weather is a big factor.

The best peach I have ever eaten was from a roadside fruit stand in Virginia. I still dream about those peaches 40 years later.. 🍑 🍑

I have a suspicion that the big so-called discount stores buy second or third quality fruits and vegetables so they can sell at lower prices than premium quality fruits being sold at high-end grocers. Also, are the selling prices determined by the juiciness and crispness of the produce. Is this true? I'm a subscriber to your channel and cherish your expertise on how to pick the best of the bunch.

You might be onto something. All I know is that the best peach I've ever had was from Costco a few years ago - 2017, I think.

How do you properly ripen a peach that isn't ready to eat?
@FoodChainTV Жыл бұрын
You can just put it on your kitchen counter and wait for it to ripen. If you want to speed it up, you can put it in a paper bag.

I agree! The best peach I ever had came from Georgia. It was found at a Costco, and I think it was like 2016 or 2017. It was perfection. And they were the size of baseballs!

WRONG! WRONG! STOP Squeezing with your fingers! You are damaging the fruit. Use your entire hand, i.e., the palm of your hand.

Could you please make a video on 🍐. When i buy them they are hard like a stone, leave them on the kitchen counter and leave the kitchen for two minutes they become mushy and disgusting.
