A very good, and thorough demonstration, and explanation into musical playback from the analogue world of a vinyl record! The fourth option is what I now have; a Sony AV STR-DH520 Receiver I bought only for hi fi audio, and listen to in stereo mode. Therefore, the connection of a vintage turntable, that I purchased last year at the Canadian ebay, is connected to a phono preamplifier then connected to the receiver; it's a Rolls Phono Preamp VP29, also bought in 2012. There were no stereo receivers at the time, and that is why I chose that AV receiver, then bought the external phono preamp. I also replaced the stylus on the harman kardon T25 belt-drive turntable; most likely an Audio Technica AT71 phono cartridge that I bought on ebay. Found an ATN-71 stylus from Amazon. Another topic that is important; eventually a stylus needs to be changed. My stereo setup works very well, and I am listening more to music from vinyl again. The direct, simpler way of playback. I'll keep on spinning.

I have a Victrola 8 in 1 turntable and I am experiencing ground loop hum. Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks!!

Thank you for not badmouthing beginner turntables such as Crowley, I know you’re a dealer but most of the audio snobs bad mouth them. I owned one when I was a kid but know I use denon amps, CD player and tape decks!! BUT HEAVEN HELP ME I USE BOSE AND POLK AUDIO SPEAKERS WHICH THE AUDIO EXPERTS HATE! Why I guess because the company makes money and makes life easier for audio beginners. I’m 75 and have used them forever music goes in music comes out of speakers the older of which are fifty plus years old the youngest about ten years old. And still sounds great.! WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?

Take the audio snobs with a grain of salt, my friend. Not everyone has the budget (or need) for high-end audio gear. I rock a pair of Polk Audios in the record store and have another set at home. That said, you do need to go into it with your eyes wide open. An $89 turntable is just that ... an $89 turntable. But my ultimate goal is for the most people to get the most enjoyment out their vinyl. So if it's a Crosely or Victrola that'll get them there, then rock on. Keep 'em spinning!

oh now i get it, the modern receiver Yamaha RX-V657 doesn´t have a Phono in setting that´s why you need a preamp, im used to seeing modern receivers that have a phono but never knew its rare these days

I have a question I haven’t been able to get a straight answer for. I have a vintage Victrola but I’m not sure if I can play newer records on it or only old ones. Meaning the 33-45 rpm or only the old 78 rpm records. Is there a way to tell if I should keep it or sell it… or to convert them?

Just wondered if you have seen or used the Technics SL-J33 Automatic turntable system that allows you to pick which tracks to play and in what order. The turntable has no pre-amp. I still have mine along with 400+ vintage LPs that have only been handled be me. I have that zipper Stones album, School desk Alice Cooper, Ogden's Nutgone Flake. I missed out on the early pressing of Dave Mason's multi colored vinyl. I'm 71.
