Master, what values of the kinman do you recommend for humbuckers (only humbuckers)? I'm not sure about the one established on the internet that is 1200pf and 130k (since the values of all treble bleed are for single coil), I'm looking for something that is balanced. I have been investigating the almost non-existent info that there is for humbukers and there is one that says that the cap stays the same (1200pf) and the resistance is between 220k or 250k, another forum says that it is 1000pf with 270k. What do you recomend? I'm looking for something that is balanced between highs, lows and mids (that's why I liked the kinman, but the established values I would like to change them to be focused on single coils)

@@by.daekeryyy I like the duncan style with stewmac's values for humbuckers - .001uF orange drop polyester capacitor, and a 1/4 watt 150-Kohm resistor. Those worked great in my Les Paul with wildwood spec '59 Tribute humbuckers. Good retention of the treble and it tweaked the volume taper to be more like a vintage taper pot and less like an audio taper pot. (i.e half volume is closer to 5 than 7.5 on the dial. qtr vol is closer to 2.5 than 5).

Yes. In my Strat. I also use a Tone/Bass tone knob which has a center spot where tone is disconnected. Oh and a Gilmore switch, switchable hot rails on N, B and a stutter switch. I would to also add phase switches to middle pickup and series parallel. Just go all in with every option. Besides it being a cool experiment, it is all useful and sounds great in different ways.

Not all guitar volume pot needs treble bleed it seem, certain type of potentiometer I'd noticed it'd retain the volume as u rolled it down so after 5 it starts to slowly fade away but i have a couple guitars that'd just lose volume after 7-8 setting that's when you know to adding a treble bleed would help.

Have you done a video with the Gibson 50s wiring? That is wiring the tone pot to the center lug of the volume pot vs to the outer ungrounded lug of the volume pot? This creates a natural treble bleed. Also have you done a video of the greasebucket mod on the tone pot?

Conversely, my 78' Strat's volume rolls off with a great taper! I hate not being able to clean up my loud amp from the guitar. Treble bleed would preserve the treble through more of the volume pot sweep. It sound like your volume pot sweep is off and removing the treble bleed wouldn't help it. But you can alway cut it out.

I was trying to install one yesterday, and now my volume pot doesn't work anymore, it's stuck at max volume when rolled down, how do you find the source of the problem ? And my second question is, you have lugs that you need to connect whatever to, for example you need to connect three wires in one lug, are the wires allowed to touch eachother ? If not, how do you prevent this with such small room in the lug ?

It sounds like you shorted -a lead to ground- the input and output together . You've taken the volume pot (and treble bleed) out of the circuit (or rather, put it on the sidelines). Edit: thought it through better on a piece of paper.

@davidallen346
@davidallen346 5 жыл бұрын
50's wiring is another version of treble bleed that uses the tone knob I would not recommend this method i have try it before, it makes ur guitar lose volume its best to just use regular treble bleed I try the 50's wiring before did not like the result, you want the les paul to sound loud and powerful, I had treble bleed the neck volume parallel and bridge volume in series on my les paul gtr and it boost the tone a quite alot. Try the .0022 Cap and 250 k resistor for TB here's a link that will explain the benefit of treble bleed. www.reddit.com/r/Guitar/comments/6bb8vd/oc_an_in_depth_guide_to_treble_bleed_circuits/?fbclid=IwAR0tI-RnHyvwTz494cNRUMvcj0hRtSln49HKiDtBRIZjQb09q1dHHSgsgDU

@@by.daekeryyy Through all the trial and errors to finally pissed off my guitar tech trying to find a correct value treble bleed I would recommend just experimenting using ether Audio or Linear taper pot for the humbucker it's very redundant when you can't change the volume of your guitar if you turn down the volume control, some people think that is a good thing, I found out it gets brighter in some instance when you have treble bleed also you guitar does not sound good or natural , Goggle Audio vs Linear taper pots it's really up to your ears. Gibson uses Linear for volume and Taper for tone, Fender have their own version of treble bleed I have not heard how good it is, I think treble bleed is a bad idea in my opinion unless its factory installed because they have people actually researched and experimented what it sound natural to the ears. Your best bet is to get a good volume pot that you actually can hear the volume difference. Electric guitar sounds best when in it's natural state and not try to messed with the volume setting.

yeah if you thinking of getting into electronics, wiring guitars is a great place to start! they are very low power/current so they teach you the importance of making good connections but nothing is going to catch on fire if you do a bad connection plus the circuits are fairly simple.

I've fooled with treble bleed circuits until I almost drove myself crazy. By far the best I came up with is the Kinman circuit. The components I settled on for PAF type humbuckers with 500k pots is a series connected 240k resistor with a 1200pf cap.

Yeah I should have got one of these things years ago it's a passive thing, so it's not really going to boost highs but it will help balance things out. it's funny on paper, in theory, an electric guitar seems so simple but on the practical side of things there are all these little problems that come out of the woodwork, and pedals and amps are even worse LOL like a lot worse for all these strange little hiccups.

DylanTalksTone Of course a capictor is a capcitor no matter what material it is made from. For all I know, companies prefer to avoid using ceramic caps because they are microphonic. But if it is doesn't matter, than why do you use Sprouge caps for the tone circuit?
@crazyuncleduke8012
@crazyuncleduke8012 6 жыл бұрын
Because Orange Drops are made of polypropylene and don't leak voltage over time like the old paper in oil ones did. Ceramic caps are a viable and inexpensive alternative to Orange Drops and many companies still use them due to the cost savings.. However, ceramic caps will still leak voltage after time and that's why it's best to use a poly cap due to it's longevity.

I'm on a campaign here at home for the simple revision of every one of my budget strats to connect the bridge pickup to a tone control knob. This "treble bleed" adaptation renders the bridge pickup as actually usable instead of being a dysfunctional annoying decoration. One man's "twangy" is this man's fingernails on a blackboard.
