This is such an informative video. Super specific to the setup I have. Just picked up the Team Pro bindings can’t wait to try them out. Thanks for the feedback on the Team Pro board, I was looking to switch to it, I’ll stay with the Team instead . 👊🏽🤘🏽

Great vid. So much snowboarding knowledge in one place. My shoe size is 10.5 and I'm getting toe drag on 155 nitro team (normal). The board is great all rounder. Smooth camber with medium stiffness make it very predictable on turns and jumps. The base does not feel as fast compared to other premium boards.
@SnowboardAddiction
@SnowboardAddiction Жыл бұрын
Stoked you liked the video! You might be able to move your binding back a bit, but 10.5 is definitely pushing it on a 155.

I like the forearm guide. I personally take the measurement from my knee to my ankle and use that as my reference stance, then I adjust it a little based on the stiffness of the board. I also rotate my highbacks so that they are parallel with my heel edge. Not so much an issue with low stance angles, but there are still some benefits. Doing this adds a touch more heel control, but the main thing is that allows your ankles to roll a bit more towards the nose and tail more freely which helps with tweaking some grabs and makes my stance feel more relaxed.

Not saying height isn't an important factor pretty sure weight is a more important factor to consider. It will affect how the flex and edge etc right? If you look at major snowboard makers, most (including Nitro) only include rider's weight in the spec but no mention of height.
@SnowboardAddiction
@SnowboardAddiction Жыл бұрын
Important for sure! Taevis was just talking about what he likes to do to pick a board, and we get a lot of DMs asking about hight, since weight you can find on every snowboard and its super brod. Height is just another tool, and a super usful one to keep note of the park riding:)

I just ordered the nitro alternator 160. Waist width is 25.6. I have size 11.5 boots. I bought the board from curator and am waiting for it to arrive. My curator agent was saying that a 25.6 waist width will be fine for 11.5 boots at angles of 12/9. Thoughts?
@SnowboardAddiction
@SnowboardAddiction 11 ай бұрын
So 11.5 is definitely pushing it for a nonwide board. I do recommend getting a wide board when you can, but it's only a difference of 0.7cm on the alternator, so it should be fine. The only downside is you have slightly more heel and toe drag and big carves. Taevis is using the 160 nonwide with 8.5 US feet, so we don't know if it will cause you any issues or not.

15/15 is very common actually for duck stance but stance y it is super personal and evrybody should play around with it to find a perfect one for themselves

Holy shit😂😂😂 5 inches on the alternator! On nitros website it says 15. 15 what i said i thought it was 15mm as in 1.5cm i think they meant 15 cm which is actually more than 5 inches. When you look at the board that definitely makes sense its very clear it has a bias. I was thinking of getting a alternator and a beast for next year. Thats how i came to this vid. I searched nitro alternator and thought it may be a review of that board. Clearly it isnt but sall good🤙 One thing ill bring up here that ive seen elsewhere. Have you ever adjusted the angle of your highback to be parallel to the edge? Think im gonna try that for tomorrow. I feel like it may allow me to tweak grabs a bit better while not having to loosen my bindings as much for grabs such as a japan or tuck knee. Maybe have a more skate feel to it while not sacrificing leverage. Who knows😂 imma find out soon tho!! Haha

I can confirm the waxing part. Don't rely on 'factory wax', especially with sintered bases (extruded bases still glide without any wax, but sintered don't). I assume this differs from board to board, but I had terrible experience taking brand new board to the slope, just ruined the day.

Hello SA. Maybe you could recommend the size of the snowboard Nitro team ? I riding with my first snowboard for winter 3 seasons. Approximately 150 days. Now I want to buy my second board so I can progress. My first snowboard 159w.26,2 width, flex 6. I am 172 centimeters tall and 79kg., leg size US 9,5, Vans infuse boots. My riding level intermedial-advaced. I easy ride switch, i'm jumping S, M, L size kicker, I like do extremely carving, back flip, wildcat, tame dog, 360 fronside - backside, grabs, ground tricks, like big sped. Sorry for the typos. What size snowboard would you recommend? Thank you for answer.
@SnowboardAddiction
@SnowboardAddiction Жыл бұрын
Hey Man, so it depends on what you want, id recommend a 155, not sure if you need to be on a wide board with 9.5 feet, I wouldn't be. I'd say if you are worried a 155 is too small go for the pro, since it's more stiff and powerful. if you feel like you need the wide, get a 157 normal team. i think 155 would do you the best, and you can choose the pro if you want more stiffness, but it is not needed:)

Do you also consider sidecut radius? I see Nitro team pro has a significant longer radius than other directional twin boards (11m vs 7ish m) Any insights on what difference does it make? Thanks
@SnowboardAddiction
@SnowboardAddiction Жыл бұрын
A smaller sidecut radius means that the board will be slightly more maneuverable than a board with a larger sidecut radius. It really depends on your style of riding, and how you plan to use the board (Ie park riding, carving, all mountain ect..)

Maybe for a new Parker or rail specialist, but full camber and true camber are the only two shapes of park board you’ll see any experienced jumping using.
@spray_skiers
@spray_skiers Жыл бұрын
@@SnowboardAddiction agree, camber is definetly better for bigger jumps and bombing hills, but if you dont exclude absolutely everything but big jumps in "park", such as butters, rails and smaller jumps. also considering most people watching this vid "setting up your board" is probably new to snowboarding. I wouldnt expect them to be hitting the biggest jumps without knowing how to set up a board. I just remember when i was new and everyone told me "go with camber for park" and after i pulled the trigger on the rome party mod ive never looked back, but also considering gang plank this year

Why you don’t consider your weight for board size?
@lifeInProgress_8020
@lifeInProgress_8020 Жыл бұрын
Weight is no longer used to determine board side for resort riding. Now if you're riding pow. Then weight will be a factor. I been riding for 20+ season and ride 60 plus days. The recommendation I tell people are stiffest, profile, and lenght. I start sizing from chin and adjust size from there depend on your type of riding.

@@SnowboardAddiction base bevels can help on rails and a lot of park boards come with base bevels. For instance the salomon huck knife has a 3 degree bevel between the bindings out of the wrapper. You dont need to go to the tune shop because of this as even the cheapest side edge tools have a 89 or 88 degree option. Also free handing with a diamond stone is pretty simple. Edge tune is just not something a lot of companies discuss.

do a squat comfortably and measure that, also look at how much your feet are angled as your guide for how many degrees to angle if any. everybody has a different hip joint socket angle which a squat shows and the forearm doesnt provide that information. @@SnowboardAddiction

This one is ultimate. Just not agree with angles suggestions. Directional stances are viable for sure. This guy just rides park
@zes793
@zes793 Жыл бұрын
Directional stances completely ruin your alignment and negatively impact about 95% of what you can do on a snowboard, and that's not even getting into those awful double positive stances people ride. With a double positive stance all you can really do well is Japanese style carving. You can carve great with a duck stance so why ruin everything else just to have a carving-specific variant stance? May as well just get hardboots and a monoski at that point.
@SnowboardAddiction

Glad you liked the video! For sure you can do like too forward angles on your board, and other wacky things. We just try to recommend stances that will work in any given situation, since that’s the kind of riding we do😁

@@zes793You can run pos/pos and still ride switch. Just can’t be super aggressive. Look up Yearning for Turning by Korua Snowboards on youtube. For a carving/powder specific board I sometimes go +18/+6 and I can ride switch just fine. The main benefit is being able to get lower to the snow in a more forgiving way, especially heelside. Most of the time I go +18 or +15 then -6 or -9 tho. Sometimes it’s fun when you just wanna get low and carve. It’s when the angles are like +27/+15 that it gets a little ridiculous.

I'm with Taevis here. Boot size and height. Height absolutely matters, and being on a board that's too short or too long for your relative height and stance width will severely limit your potential on a board.

Height only matters in the way you can adjust the right stance width )
@SnowboardAddiction

A important thing to remember is skill plays a big factor, if you are just getting into snowboarding a longer board can be a lot to handle. but if you are getting to Taevis’s level, you can start using that extra length in your board in a lot of awesome ways! Hight width and weight are all just suggestions to help you gage what will work. Use them all to ensure you get the best board possible:)
