I can’t stay with one color palette. I get bored very easily and I want to use whatever I want. I try to do little palettes full of stuff I like because colors mean a lot but how I use any color is the same. I just really like all types of colors and designs and they work for different characters and designs. Your advice is very helpful though and great overall.

Love your color palette! It’s very comforting, like visiting an old friend! “I don’t think about those colors again for a very long time” lol that’s how i feel when I try to use like blue green grey colors which I realized I do like in other peoples work but have a very hard time using myself 😅

This video was excellent Kriksis. Truly. I liked every aspect of it - so inspiring. I especially liked the way you showed us how to pinpoint the colours on a hand drawn colour wheel. I’m going to try this to help me know what my colour palette truly is. I must say I’m mostly drawn to pastels esp. pale blue, pale yellow, pale green, pink (all spectrums of pink). Even though orange is your preferred colour and mine is pink, this hasn’t stopped me liking your art. Your art is excellent! And that it has a nature focus. Look forward to your next video 🦋

Hi Kriksis. I just wanted to add that this afternoon I spent time finding my palette using coloured pencils and I believe I’ve found it. Thank you for your guidance. In reference to the colour wheel, they are Yellow-orange, yellow (all shades including fluorescent), yellow-green, green (nearly all), pale blue (varying shades of pale blue depending on the brand), and pink (all shades including fluorescent), plus peach (all shades). This was an enjoyable task. I’ve put all the pencils in the one jar. Now I’m ready to trial this and draw something next weekend. Thank you for being inspiring. Have a great week 🌻

Thank you, this was an eye opening video. I looked back at my latest sketchbook and it made me so much more aware of the colours I am drawn to. My palette is very much like yours, probably why I was attracted to your site. I love the combination of turquoise and rust, as well as indigo , beige and browns. Muted colours. Hi Kriksis, I know that bright colors aren't something you are particularly drawn to, but I do really like your little neon Riso print dragons. It would be interesting to watch you draw or paint a dragon with a color palette that you feel more comfortable with.

I'm always in awe of your colour palette, it is so distinctive and easily recognizable as your work, and it's just so comforting and cozy. Every time I try to pick a small palette to do all my work in, I end up picking colours from all over the place because I don't want to give any of them up! So instead I use lots of colours across my work but each project or series will have it's own limited palette. I know I'll never have a cohesive or recognizable portfolio of work, but doing it this way is what brings me joy. And it keeps me from trying to use every colour in every piece, lol! Super helpful video for making limited palettes, whether it's for an entire body of work or just individual projects, and I'll be referring back to it. Thank you!

Thank you-this video helped me a lot to find out what colour palette suits me. Funnily I found it almost overaps yours. Green is my colour ( being a red head😊) and I also love golden yellows and deep orange browns. I am not at all into reds, pinks or purples unless they have some twist to them, like coral red or perylene violet. They are nice as an accent to the green, yellow and browns and dusky blues. But pure pink-ugh! And thank you for showing where brown is on a colour wheel, I have wondered about that!

I do love your color pallette! When I look at your work, it is both calming and and exciting in a more long-term, transformational way. It feels like a moth about to fly for the first time under the light of a full moon, the magic that doesn't need to be noticed by everyone, but just those who know how to see the subtle miracles of everyday life. I think it was in a talk by Louise Fletcher that I realized that the art we respond to and love as artists is not necessarily the style we want or need to create. Since hearing that, I have a lot more clarity in my own work. I can love a mid-day of primary colors with hard geometric lines but still want to settle down into a Maxfield Parrish dusk in my own sketchbook. Thank you so much for another episode and for the charming footage of your home farm. I would love to slow down with that quirky menagerie of unique animals any day, even with my own hay fever. 😊

When you sit down to make a work do you pick out a color palette before you start? Also my favorite color is a aqua blue color, how do you suggest to build a color palette around that? Should I include a complimentary color to the blue like orange maybe? I often try to mix my color palette up but my art always turn out to be turquoise, green and blue with a lot of warm yellow like Indian yellow. I like most colors but turquoise and blue are the colors that make me the most happy. Greys, black and reds are my least favorite colors with emphasis on greys. Thanks for another great video! 🙏😊

Thank you so much 😀 They are Molotow paint markers. The bigger ones are empty markers which I filled with Molotov acrylic refills ink and made my own colours. :)

Lovely interesting video. I wonder if your hair colour has anything to do with your love of fox orange? Your clothes and your studio reflect your obvious favourites of burnt sienna and ultramarine.
