I approached making this video very thoughtfully and figured it would be better to go into the very basics so that beginners can easily follow along. So I apologize if it feels too detailed for more advanced artists- I didn’t mean to be overly thorough or state the obvious 🤍 I’d love to hear your thoughts after you’ve watched it!

The eyes in this oil painting are captured by the artist with extremely delicate brushstrokes, as if they can insight into the inner world of the characters, extremely vivid and breathtaking. The clear layers of pupils, irises, and whites in the eyes not only showcase the three-dimensional sense of the eyes, but also endow them with profound emotional colors.

Useful introduction, thanks. Glad to hear oil is forgiving. I've wanted to try oil painting for a while now but it always seemed like it would only be suited for artists with a high level of talent

Yes, I personally find oil painting easier than getting into watercolor or acrylics. Oils may seem complicated on the surface (like needing to use a medium), but in reality, that’s not a hurdle at all. And in my opinion, they’re very satisfying to work with. So good luck-I hope it works out for you as well!

my paint feels a bit stiff even though i already tried adding linseed stand oil to it, both are from daler rowney btw, and the shades never seem quiet right whenever i try mixing them. the shadows are always either too brown or too grey and the don't go well with the skin tone, not to mention the skin tone keeps change its like the girl im painting has all types of hyperpigmentation and also a yellow rash, you can only identify her nose by the two thick circles for nostrils in the middle of her face. any tips and instructons will be appreciated. thank you for coming to my rant 😋

Hello! I would appreciate if you read this message. I have a question. Is it actually harder to draw such soft, and delicate things with acrylic painting? Or is it the canvas that is important? Should it be really really smooth? Cause mine looks like it made of threads.
@DariaCallie2 ай бұрын
That’s a tough question for me because I don’t have much experience with acrylics. However, I assume it's possible to achieve very soft and realistic results with them too, though the technique would be quite different. As for surfaces, I personally prefer smoother ones. When I use canvases, I like to apply a few extra layers of gesso or acrylic primer and sand between each layer to create a smoother texture. This isn't necessary, but I just prefer it that way, and I do find it easier to blend paint on a smoother surface.
