I use the most fair approach. No prepayments. You get a free trial class which is a real class with my students. If you like it, you enroll. But still no payments in advance. You will pay only after you start the course and you can do it during the first week of a month. Not in advance. Also we have monthly payments. So you don't pay for the whole course. I will be proving that it's the top quality education class by class. 99% of students finish all 9 months of the course. I've been doing it like that for 8 years in a row. Get the Free Trial class - it's a fair approach! Great video Andrew. What Andrew trains us is how to think like an audio engineer. Before I started this course I did not understand what I needed to get to with a particular tool. Now I’m thinking way before I pick the tool. Then I listen and if it’s the wrong tool I change it until I get the sound in my head, this is no different with limiters. The guy is a pleasure to work with, but don’t expect him to say your mix is ok if it’s not, he will tell you it sux, but he will train you to understand why. That is priceless. All the best Stu.

Hi Andrew, i think only you could answer a doubt not common to find on the web forums.....here it goes: i'm doing a mastering for spotify, wich converts the file to AAC to be streamed online, for this purpose, they recommend -14 LUFS of perceived level and keep the peaks below -2dBTP.......and that's okay, because i use WLM meter and great limiters, so i can keep my eyes on this levels and export the song respecting these limits, the funny thing, is that, once i get the exported file in wav. format, and i reopen it as an Audio file on my DAW, my peaks go above -2dBTP easily, actually, peaks are close to 0dBTP in all tracks pretty much (even setting the ceiling of the limiters way below 0 dBTP to avoid True Peak distortion) and the perceived volume also enhances too after the export, something around -12 LUFS....i don't understand why, no tips at all on the internet discussing about what happens with the track after it is exported. ....in the mastering stage, it shows me a different level compared to the exported file (wich is usually more louder and peaking) how to deal?!?!?!?
@checktheneck
@checktheneck 5 жыл бұрын
Valentina Freitas you should use true peak limiting function, it’s available in some limiters like izotope ozone 7 (or 8) maximizer. As for the reasons for the occurrence of clipping, this is due to the conversion to lossy formats, as a rule, the higher the compression, the more intersample peaks happens.
@valentinafreitas7412
@valentinafreitas7412 5 жыл бұрын
@@checktheneck As i said above, i've checked the true peak limiting option obviously, and settled almost -1 dB of Ceiling to prevent analog distortion, however, wav. format is not always a lossy format, such as mp3 or FLAC....wav. can be uncompressed audio once it's rendered as Linear Pulse Code Modulation ...seems to me you did not understand my point...better to me wait for Zeleno...he's definitely got a good answer
@AndrewZeleno1
@AndrewZeleno1 5 жыл бұрын
If you want real honest opinion I have to say I can't say for sure until I see it on my own. Described problem is unusual. If you do eveything correct and your limiter is the real true peak limiter it would never happen like you described.
@valentinafreitas7412
@valentinafreitas7412 5 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewZeleno1 As always, you're right, a true peak limiter should do the job anytime, the problem was that Logic Pro has a option called "Normalize" in the bounce menu, if you do not uncheck this option (like i did), you'll have problems with peaking and volume differences (i took more than one hour mastering and exporting to figure out what was the mistake)...sorry for bothering with this simple daze, i'm quite ashamed for now, but that's okay...have a good day!
@checktheneck
@checktheneck 5 жыл бұрын
@@valentinafreitas7412 try to check your track in izotope rx or other analyzer that show true peak, to make sure that the problem is not only (or just only) in your daw. Among other things, the normalization function when exporting most likely makes your true peak 0.0 dB again, as if you did not adjust the ceiling in the limiter and true peak setting. Try to avoid automatic normalization when it comes to mastering. Mastering is primarily about manual control of all aspects. If you want to make sure that are all volume indicators (peak, lufs and other) are correct after mastering, use analyzers, or tools such as "mastered for itunes tool set", iZotope RX (loudness module), or "Mastering The Mix LEVELS" plugin. Also, check the Loudness Penalty site. It's very useful.

Hi Andrew, while all limiters have their own "character" i've found the TDR limiter 6 GE to be most flexible for me. Between the different modes and combinations of the clipper and limiter i've found it can handle the widest variety of material as it can be setup to avoid all the mentioned disadvantages depending on what you're limiting. Hey Andrew, just wondering what a sensible or “normal” amount of gain reduction would be on the limiter particularly in electronic and rnb music. I have ozone 8 elements and the master assistant almost always pushes the track at 3.5-5db over the limiter. I guess I’m asking if that’s a normal thing to do because to me around 5db seems a bit excessive. (I do use other limiters and master my tracks myself I just like to see what the master assistant gives me for reference)

Limiters and loudness is the death of music.. All emotion and vibe killed instantly... The best mixes and songs ever produced are imperfect that is the magic of music...
@AndrewZeleno1
@AndrewZeleno1 3 жыл бұрын
It's because If you can't set up and find a specific limiter which doesn't affect on dynamics. If you don't want dynamics changes you just apply modern maximizers which will not change any volume balance. They only grab one of rare high peaks and limit them almost like clippers. It doesn't change anything. Also all the best mixes I know have a maximixer in their mastering stage. "best mixes and songs ever produced are imperfect that is the magic of music" it has nothing to do with the subject. Very imperfect mix may have a maximizer. And they do in 99% of cases after 1990.
