Ironically that Blackhawk with the index finger lock on it, is the whole for I use. At first it was a little tricky. Now I wouldn't change any other holster it feels very comfortable and natural for me to use. It's also a lot faster but I've also trained with it.

Great video. Absolutely correct about the clip for an IWB/appendix carry holster! I’ve got an Alien Gear system and the paddle holster makes the holster & gun sit high on your hip. But it’s a concealed carry system, so….that’s why it sits up high to be under your garment & not visible. Plus I’ve got other holsters which are good too. Glad you spoke about retention!

Good video. I just bought a Blackhawk Omnivore for my XDm-9mm. Got the Omnivore because left-handed paddle holsters for XDm-9mm Compacts are ignored by the holster makers when a light-bearing requirement is part of the recipe. It looks clunky and one would think a "one size fits all" design would be really crappy, but no. My XD w/TLR1 locks perfectly every time when the appropriately sized holster INSERT is used that rides the top of the slide. Makes all the difference in terms of smooth insertion, extraction and stops any rattle of one is running. Again - a great fit for a LEFT-handed shooter. I qualified expert right handed and super hung over, but switched to using my left hand after a few years because its a more direct aim with a straighter wrist toward my dominant eye. If you watch Hickok-45 shoot pistols, I think you will see he shoots right-handed but he bends his right wrist to aim the sights at his left eye. My only bitch about the Omnivore is that snag on the paddle. I understand its purpose and it has to stay on the paddle, but I'm going to look for a QD belt mount as soon as I submit this awesome comment :) Sworn to uphold the Constitution. Damn right.

Great video! I run the Safariland 7376RDS ALS which works with my G19X, G17 and my G35 RDS or not and I run the Streamlight HL's on all of them. Good for range but for carry those pancakes are hard to beat.

The gun I conceal carry the most is my Glock 26, I use a Vedder IWB holster. Vedder uses metal clips which is a nice upgrade over the plastic ones other companies use.

Acquired a Tulster OATH and it is a decent IWB holster, especially if you choose to have a optic. Of all the holster that I have my old M12 Army Holster is the one that I am the fondest of.

I’m not currently an amputee, but if my right leg is ever deemed redundant the replacement will have a built-in holster that recedes into the leg and disappears from view. A drop-leg for the dropped leg so to speak. I mean hopefully that will never happen, but if it did - man that would be the setup. Then I could swing my arm down, my firearm would pop out, and I could say cool lines like “dead or alive: you’re coming with me to stand trial for violations of Title 18 USC 241” or other cool things like that. I would probably be much cooler than I am now. Until then I’ll probably go with one of these options you’re recommending.

How often do you re-apply oil to your concealed carry gun? I put a couple drops in where the slide rides along the frame about every 2 weeks or whenever it looks dry. I know that oil coats metal at the molecular level, but it's a peeve of mine I guess. Also been told that carrying a gun will take the oil out of it quicker than storing it. It seems to be true so far.

buy a Philster Floodlight2 for the light you have and never look back. I go from my glock 45, to my Springfield prodigy ds to my beretta m9a3 to my kimber with zero issues all use a streamlight tlr1 hl and they all fit.. Also in a shtf situation if I have to ditch my gun and pick up another persons gun I can just slap my light on it and my holster will fit no matter what with the same manuel of arms. perfect holster. And I have spent literally thousands of dollars on holsters over the years. Tier 1, Kobra kydex, Crossbreed etc hands down floodlight is the best 100% $109.00 and you are done.

Alien Gear IWB Appendix Holster, they’re comfortable, quality material, and if it ever breaks they’ll replace it for life! Plus they have a system where you just buy the shell for your particular firearm and it can mount on any holster of theirs. It’s called the ShapeShifter.

Safariland are great for combat or duty holster wear, but not for CC. Unless you're fine with looking like you have a brick on your hip. I'm no fan of iwb, always owb. Bravo concealment make great owb holsters.

I rock a $25 dollar warriorland iwb holster for my Hellcat. I use it exclusively for my rock climbing running shorts that have a spandex style waste band and it works great. Also I have a lock leather holster for OWB that I use. It’s comfortable and effective. I live in the south and most of the year it’s shorts and t shirt so 🤷🏻‍♂️. Use what works for you.

A lower mounted holster is great for uses where concealment isn’t required, but makes concealment much more difficult. Everything is a trade-off with guns and holsters and the key is to optimize as much as possible for your particular circumstance.

I have two Blackhawk surpas. They work well, however there have been some negligent discharges from folks getting their index finger on the trigger during a draw when releasing the gun from the holster and firing the weapon. There’s actually a YT video of a guy shooting him self in the leg using one. I’ve never had an issue but some tactical training instructors will not permit the surpa in their training classes.

If you are a dinosaur and carry a full size 1911, I recommend the Brommeland Max Con V. Yeah, it's a leather holster; but it's very comfortable. You can carry a 2 1/2 lb. pistol all day no problem. He also makes fantastic mag pouches.

I use the safariland on glock 21 With light. It's a great piece of gear. If things look tense, release the bell. If things go bad the thumb release works perfectly. I like the release toward the body. Harder for another person with no skill to snatch the weapon.

Black Arch holsters are the most confortable inside the waistband holster. I have a large box of holsters that are out of the lineup. Ailen gear are much less confortable. The holster that came with my 938 sig (tiny 1911 for formal wear, wedings and funerals), it has retention with twist. Someone grabs it they will twist away from body, locks holster. I grab gun twist inward, defeats lock.

My USN6378 ALS if I recall that nomenclature correctly, has been the best holster I've ever used. Fabric is wearing a little but it's been an outstanding holster. I've got another that's the same style with the ALS but cut out for an RMR, but it's the same as the 6378. The draw is just natural and my thumb drops right to the ALS every time. I've been using a True North holster adapter for 3 yrs I think. Makes for a good setup. Inside appendix carry I use a DSG Arms holster. It's compact and it works.

Index finger button holsters create risk for an ND. You are pressing a button with your trigger finger as you are pulling a gun out of a holster. In a high stress situation, I can see your trigger finger continuing to press as the gun comes out and your finger will be in close proximity to your trigger.

I highly recommend Alien Gear Holsters. The comfort level is very high especially for inside the waistband. The Kydex IWB holsters dig in, especially when you are moving around a lot and getting in and out of vehicles.
