hey a double pivot would be a good pick if your looking to slide but not to much hill bombing. the board will be able to carve very aggressively and this will make learning to slide much easier. if you are looking for a smoother ride a softer dero wheel will help with that. A softer wheel will wear out alittle fast if it slid allot. 78a is a conformable medium. The sector 9 bob marley player would be a good pick for your needs.
@Boarding15112 жыл бұрын
Hey a Sector 9 NICARAGUA would be a good pick for your riding style. It is a great board for cruising and is a good length that it will help with stability on hills. the wheels have rounded lips to make sliding a breeze!

from riding in the rain in holland much, i can tell you any board will ride. but you should either get a lot of cheap bearings and replace them, or clean them after every time you ride (they don't like water very much). for trucks, pretty much all trucks that have bushings are ok.
@Boarding15112 жыл бұрын
hey the sector 9 carbon decline would be a good pick if you are looking for a higher speed curser it uses a softer truck bushing so its nice and cravy at lower speed, the deck has a gradual drop that makes it super stable at speed.
@Boarding15112 жыл бұрын
Absolutely drop decks are typically a little stiffer because they are lower then a bottom mount. this makes them great for heaver riders. also some boards come is different flex ratings so that may be something to consider when shopping for a board

Bear Grizzly 852's stock bushings are 82.5 a not that high of rebound, but if you're over 150 lb, it's gonna feel kind of loose, but you can always go ahead and buy some new bushings, personally i like venom, reflex, and fhantom, although i do more slalom than freeride, a few other good choices would be riptide, blood orange, bearJimZ, khiro(although a lot of people find these to feel "dead", so i'd say go with venom as they have a lot of duro's and a lot of shapes to fit to your style of riding

My sector 9 striker is amaaaazing for just that. I love it, seriously. I did my research heavily and rode loads of friends boards before deciding. Its $130ish on amazon (got mine used on craigslist for 65 and all it needed was a 6 dollar thing of new griptape!)
@Sokolva9 жыл бұрын
Kyezie131 I am a Skiier and have done some basic snowboarding, and I can tell you that it is similar to snowboarding, but the similarities only become more obvious the more you do it. I noticed that when I first started learning to longboard I didn't see as much similarities, but once I started doing downhill and going fast, and carving donwhill, I started feeling like I was carving through pavement rather than snow. I use the Landyachtz Switch 40, which I hear feels a lot like a snowboard if you want to check it out. It is very low to the ground so it is very stable. www.daddiesboardshop.com/landyachtz-switch-41-longboard-skateboard-complete-2012

santa cruz make some great drop through boards they are very low and stiff this will make them stable for hills and great for slides!

I just bought that Santa Cruz board behind you with the kicktail (the one on the rack) and I am still unsure if I want to return it because the trucks feel really loose and the guys I bought it from said that I shouldn't tighten them right away. I don't want a typical longboard so what would be your suggestion? I just want to cruise around the city and do a ollie to get over objects. Please help me.
@MsDankitup11 жыл бұрын
it's possible i do it on my original malakai 40 which is pintail, sliding is easier if you have the drop through style bc you'll have a lower center of gravity. the most important thing for sliding is the duro of your wheels and the lips, 80a is not a good slide wheel, but most boards come with them, go for blue vemon 82a? or abec freerides 83a otangs 84a yellow are good too. just go to your local shop and ask to see longboard blank decks, and buy a simple first board. learn, then buy nicer.

Hi I am looking to buy a board just to ride down streets and I don't have any intent in doing tricks in the near future. I have practiced on my friends Twin Tail Landyachtz board and I am capable of going down a long street with a small incline without bailing. I have only practiced for about 1 day as I have pretty good balance. I was wondering if it would be ok to get a twin tail simply to ride around the streets. I don't want to switch board types because I am used to my friends Twin Tail. If someone of knowledge could answer that would be great. Thanks :)
@allieburns34010 жыл бұрын
it all depends on what your comfortable on...every longboard feels different because of the different trucks/decks/wheels...a twin tail is really good for sliding because its symmetrical so it doesn't matter what way the board is facing...but its all in the feel of the board, if your comfortable on a twin tail then I would say go for it because It would be fine for street skating.
