once you hold in your hand a serious dedicated summer tire, and all season, and a winter it's easy to understand the differences. the video does great at telling us what we need to kno, but I'll never forget picking up a snow tire and feeling how soft it was compared to a summer tire. unreal, the difference between the composition of the tires. anyone who thinks rubber is just rubber, wait until you actually feel the difference LOL

Tires really do make a huge difference, went from the cheapest all seasons you can buy on factory rims to Goodyear eagle exhilarates on custom rims, it was like night and day, huge difference.

*In the United States there's only 2 places in America to run Summer tires yearly. That would be Cali, and SOUTH FLORIDA. Everyone else should use AS, Or Snow tires.*

tire reccomendation/advice please... i live in tennessee where we get some very cold winters between october & march, but only get a little bit of snow every now & again, & some winters we dont get any, so full blown snow tires are very unnecessary in my area, & the 2 cars in question are my 2 daily drivers, a 98 ls1 formula firebird with a fully built autocross ready suspension, & a 99 miata (with a stock suspension, for now, suspension mods are underway soon) ...i used to run high performance summer tires all year round but i noticed that after driving them thru the cold winters they started cracking, so i did a little research & saw where driving them below a certain temp can cause premature sidewall cracking, so i purchased a set of "high performance all season" bfgoodrich tires, & theyre great tires for what they are & my only real complaint is the lack of grip in the hard corners... they dont have anything close to the grip my nitto 555's had... so heres my question... is there a tire out there that wont crack in the cold weather (cause there are days we get down in the 20's & ive still gotta drive to work) but will give me the grip of a summer high performance tire? because around here our winters can be 20 degrees one day & 60 the next, & 100+ in the summer ...so is there a good performance tire out there that wont crack up in cold weather, or am i looking at havin to get a second set of wheels for my summer tires? btw tire sizes are 98 firebird 275-40-17 & 99 miata 205-50-15 ...thanx

Honestly, I don't think so. You're really kind of stuck with a summer high performance tire if you want the grip, and an "all season" to handle you're cold weather. Perhaps moving to a Michelin/Nitto performance oriented all season will help a bit.

Yes but its not a significant difference , It would likely just affect your gas mileage and tire wear since it increases the tires overall diameter and weight meaning it requires more energy to move the tire due to an increase of traction and weight

From WC, Good Info but you could have mentioned that while a summer sports tire such as a 55 or 60 cross section, IF you hit a curb, you have lost both wheel and tire and that could be a $500 or more cost just for 1 tire!

Live in Montreal, Qc Canada and Winter tires are mandatory from December through March each year. I have a 2019 VW GLI 35th Anniversary. To me, VW messed up badly in making the all season's Hankook Kinergy GTs for that car. Michelin Piolt Sport all season 3+ is a recommended bet as comfort/quiet/performance. What is a good choice for the most "comfort/quiet" performance Summer tire you'd suggest?

Hi Man Just need your Fittment help in my case i have a Mercedes GL550 which got Stock Wheels 21inch 10J and tyre size is 295/40/21 all around but i have bought new set of wheels which are 22inch staggered. Now problem is being a AWD car need 100% accurate tyre to not damage my Diff. New Wheels front are 22inch 9J and Rear 10.5J. Please help me with finding the write tyre size.

no its a performance tire , i would recommend the goodyear weather ready or the michelin xice , all season perfomance and great durability , goodyear offers soybean oil to prevent tires from cracking over time in the cold and render better performance all year round and over time , michelin offers more sipes and grooves and is a snow oriented tires , check the tires temperature rating and see charts for a better idea of how the compare between brands and tire models

touring tires offer mainly a smooth and quiet ride with performance and handling benefits without sacrificing tire life , highway tires generally have the same qualities as a touring tire but offer extensive life and focus mainly on a smooth and quiet ride rather than handling and traction

Im curious i live in California we get more heat and rain but i want better grip on my nissan tires when it rains seasonal is great but when i saw this video it seems winter tires would seem best im just wondering can i use them everyday like seasonal?? I would suggest going with a performance all season tire , like the eagle sport all season , performance in wet and dry conditions is optimal , or consider any type of all season grand touring tire . In california unless you live in the snow i would suggest a tire with sleak shoulders but shoulder blocks with lots of sipes , water channeling grooves are standard with most tires so its not a huge deal which you choose but i would suggest getting something along the tines of tread wear rating 450ish so you get a long life off of them

I'm having a hard time understanding tires and finding the right ones I want for the look in trying to achieve. I have a 2012 TSX SE with 18x9.5 35 offset 225/45/18tires . I'm looking for new tires and want to achieve a beefy stanced look. Car is on coilover..any idea what size tires would work? I don't want to go low profile tires. 245/45/18 I thought would work but can't find any one with them online

I would recommend in 2454518 you do get wider tires with a pretty beefy sidewall at about 110mm if you go with 2454018 it would be about 98 and 2453518 would be 87 , i would stick to the closest size that fits without stretching and smallest without sacrificing sidewall length also consider tire width and height affect your turn radius and wheel well clearance , also 2354518 is a great option since its what is mounted from manufacture on civic side and sport although they are a bit stretched
