@devinwhitlock27394 жыл бұрын
Jacob Baker get ready to have to buy another set in a year. Michelin’s are better but softer compound and what most people don’t know is they start at around 9/32s where as Pirelli control contact is a harder compound(less tire is lost to the pavement) and start at 11/32s. Just a tip man. Also I’m sure those 265s look so much fatter than the 215 oem or whatever
@devinwhitlock27394 жыл бұрын
Also the Pirelli control contact/cinturato will cost less than the Michelin pilot sport

Even though steel rims aren't as popular, I've found them to be MUCH easier to balance compared to most other rim types. Mainly because a lot of steel rims require clamp weights in which you would just measure and let the tire balancer tell you on which side the weight needs to go on. Sticky weights are fairly reliable too but there are so many different types of rims that chances are, if the rim isn't brand new or clean, those sticky weights are useless.

One other thing about Offset is it's also about making sure the center line of the wheel lines up with the pivot point of your steering, doesn't matter on the back as much, but if it's too far in or out your wheel will move in an arc to turn instead of twisting on the spot
@simev500 Жыл бұрын
Best consumer-friendly vid on car tires so far, short of telling how the rubber is actually made. 7:12 This manufacturing date in this number code set is the most important: tire rubber has a maximum useful lifespan of 7yrs; even vulcanized rubber dries out to become brittle in that time period and not replacing them just invites catastrophic blowouts on the road.

you can do some homework and look up for yourself, i mean you should search "toyo tires" and i'm sure they'll say something about what it's used for: drifting, racing. don't forget: the pressure of the air that it's in the tire is also important

Put them on my 2013 civic Si a few months ago and they are absolutely amazing for the price too, great in the rain as well even though they are a high performance summer tire. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a GREAT high performance tire. Got mine for 90$ a piece for a 215/45R17 but I think they have gone up in price since the word has gotten out about how good they are because they are a fairly new production of tire.

Quick question on the torque spec, where did you find the torque specs for all those parts on your car?

I never knew there was this much info on a tyre. Not sure if the same applies to tyres sold all over the world, but we do have American tyres on our 4wd. So all that info is on it. 👌

Greetings from the UK. This is now my go-to website for everything MX5, really entertaining but loads of useful, intelligent content. Great stuff. A video on tools would be good. I have a 2004 Mk2 , just had a new timing chain fitted which makes a huge difference to performance. All the best......don’t stop. Most entertaining show since Top Gear ! C

My stock replacement for my MK5 GTI is a 92Y according to Discount Tires. Is a Y rating worse or better than Z? I'm confused.

Favorite donut content! (sorry James) Please dont stop making these! After the Miata is done, get another project going. Love how well and simple everything is explained. Saw a bike at the background, maybe someone from the Donut crew can make series about maintenance/build. Its a big ask, but had to put it out there. Once again great job! Keep em comin! Drive/ride safe!

DOT code: mind blown! Up until now I had no idea you could find out how old your tires were, thank you!
