Ideally you should put on a set of powder free gloves. It would help keep the oils from your hand from getting into the clothe, and eventually onto the screen, which just makes it harder to get completely clean/spotless.

@EDTchoi - you're right-on about not using Micro Fibre cloths - even NEW ones! I'm an automobile detailer and believe me, all M F cloths and NOT created equal : ) Some can micro scratch ANY surface if you examine those surfaces in the correct light. The MAIN reason I'm leaving this comment is to suggest that even WITH the iCloth, which looks great BTW, it's best not to go over any part of the screen with the iCloth that has been used elsewhere on the screen. If you do that, you're simply rubbing debris that is embedded in the cloth onto a dirty part of your screen with risk of micro scratching. Even if you have to use two or three iCloths to clean your screen, the end result will be closer to perfection and well worth the little extra cost. Happy New Year!!!

Thanks for the feedback David! Good to know about your experience with cleaning sensitive surfaces in the auto detailing world and excellent suggestion about only using the clean portion of the iCloth wipe to clean the screen. Out of curiosity, what do you use to clean the displays in cars? Happy New Year to you as well!

@@EdTchoi Hi Ed - happy to throw ideas your way : ) . . . to REALLY see what's going on with your screen, try shining an LED flashlight on it in a darkened room (TV off) while you're cleaning it - WHOA! If you're a perfectionist, you probably won't be happy with what you see LOL It shows EVERY cotton pickin' thing you can THINK of! I use Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer (available Canadian Tire) which works well for screens inside cars BUT not 100% happy with it on my SONY OLED TV - I'd like to try the iCloths though, as long as they don't contain alcohol which is detrimental to OLED and LED screens as you know. IMHO, the SAFEST MF cloths for TV's is the one that came with our TV's and if we don't have one of those, we can find that kind of MF at most eyeglass stores. All the best, David

@@davidbee8178 I'll have to try the flashlight trick! The original iCloth wipes contain 25-30% Isopropyl Alcohol and it's actually what Air Canada uses to clean all their inflight entertainment systems along with their flight decks. I think it's Ethyl alcohol that damages the screens as it sometimes contains impurities. From my recent research, pretty much all the flat panel manufacturers are asking customers to use Isopropyl Alcohol to clean their screens (most are recommending 70% IPA, which iCloth has as well). If you'd like, I can have some samples sent your way to test out. I'd love to get your feedback!

@@EdTchoi Thank you for your very kind offer Ed but I already have some iCloths on order from Amazon! They are certainly worth a try and appear to be safe too and I'll be more than happy and give you my two cents worth after I try them. But YOU can also give the iCloths THE test that I'd give them and that is to look at your screen AS you clean it, in the dark, with an LED flashlight (maybe ordinary flashlights can do the trick too?) to see if the iCloths leave a trail of smudge behind them as you wipe your screen down. If they don't, then you are home free and will have reached screen cleaning nirvana : ) Please lemme know how that works for you : ) Just outta curiosity, I'm guessing you live in Canada? @@EdTchoi Perfect!! Thank you!! One more question....if there are dust particles on the screen, can I just use an iCloth to wipe them off, or should I use a microfiber cloth first, and then the cloth? @@chiefkookums9397 I would wipe down the TV very gently with the iCloth wipe to remove any particles from the screen. I used a microfiber towel from Chemical Guys that is a very good product. However, one side has rather large, soft fibers. Will this damage my screen or am I safe? It seems to have left some sort of residue, although it has been washed since using it on my car. Will the ICLOTH leave micro scratches?
@EdTchoi
@EdTchoi 3 жыл бұрын
iCloth will never leave any micro scratches as each wipe is hermetically sealed and uses high quality aviation grade approved materials. The microfiber cloth/towel on the other hand can potentially leave scratches as they do an amazing job at picking up dirt. I actually talked to a guy yesterday and he scratched his screen with his microfiber cloth as he didn't know it had picked up a small metal shaving off of the ground (he's an Audio-Video equipment installer). Hope this info helps!

Hi thanks for the video. It's OK or normal to apply some pressure to clean or wipe off the marks or the water marks right? I used the cleaning wet and dry wipes that came with the screen protector for my switch...After applying the wet wipe there were some water marks and dry in the screen .. then I used the dry wipe to clean..But in order to take away the marks... I need to do it a little hard to clean but not too hard ... I saw the screen survive bounding like yours .. I guess that won't damage the pixels and I guess they are quite durable right? Secondly ... Because I clean the edge as well .. and not a lot of water but little excess water ... They won't leak inside the TV easily right? Thanks

@EdTchoi 4 жыл бұрын
Ah, I believe you mean distilled water. Here's the definition as per my friend, Wikipedia "Distilled water is water that has been boiled into vapor and condensed back into liquid in a separate container. Impurities in the original water that do not boil below or near the boiling point of water remain in the original container. Thus, distilled water is one type of purified water." Long story short, distilled water is better for cleaning displays as it doesn't have impurities like tap water has (these impurities is what often causes streaking)

Just use a microfiber towel (wont scratch the surface) and distilled water. Only use a couple of sprays ON THE TOWEL. Do not spray directly on your tv. Any alcohol will damage your screen over time and other chemicals and even tap water will leave residue and even remove the anti-glare coating off the screen. Notice how reflective his screen is?
@EdTchoi
@EdTchoi 4 жыл бұрын
@@klaytonwhite149 Thanks for your comment. The problem with microfiber cloth is that the user has to be very careful to ensure that there is no dirt embedded between the microfibers so it doesn't scratch the screen. Good suggestion though on spraying the distilled water directly onto the cloth as I'm sure a lot of people would spray it directly onto their TV. The iCloth solution is safe for TV's and although there is some alcohol, it's diluted with their formula which makes it safe for screens. In fact, the iCloth is commonly used in Flight Decks to clean instrumentation panels and the cloth and solution is approved for aviation use. The iCloth is also used on polycarbonate windows on airplanes for regular maintenance. iCloth currently supplies a major airline with iCloth cleaning wipes for all of their regular maintenance. With regards to the reflectiveness of my screen, I have studio lights that I use when filming, so inevitably there will be some glare. Also, this was the first time using the iCloth on my TV so the iCloth had no part in minimizing the anti-glare coating on my screen. I appreciate your comment and thanks for viewing my video!

Good question...unless specified by the manufacturer, isopropyl alcohol is safe for screens. I've done a lot of research on this topic and have found that pretty much most major display and touchscreen manufacturers like Apple, Garmin, Samsung, etc endorse the use of isopropyl alcohol to clean their screens (if you're curious, just Google the manufacturer's name + isopropyl alcohol and this will lead you to the manufacturer's page on how to clean their displays). Note: not all alcohol is the same...isopropyl is screen safe, but Ethyl Alcohol is not as it may leave oil traces behind. Thanks for your question and hope this clarifies things!

What were you cleaning it with? If it was using an iCloth wipe, you shouldn't be seeing any spots after using it

Can u use baby wipes
@EdTchoi
@EdTchoi 4 жыл бұрын
Baby wipes have other chemicals in it that can damage screens. Best to stick with non-damaging wipes like iCloth as these were purposely designed for sensitive electronics.

Shine a flashlight in a darkened room on your screen and you will see numerous smudge/streak marks..impossible to clean completely.
