I clean mine every winter pretty much how you do it. Seems to keep everything working well and a couple of my reels are 10 years old. With all of the free time we have all my equipment is very clean. My boat has never been this clean in mid April.

My worry is the cleaner spray. It's a degreaser. So spraying it on your reel, spool and handle areas, in my thinking really isn't a good idea because there's some unreachable areas. Specially going underneath other parts like screws and bearings and stuff. I used the spray and it works great. And with the butter and oil, the reels are flawless. Just concerned if over time, that cleaner will eat away at the grease. Any thoughts?
