Thanks for the review very informative. Only thing is why do you put oil on the comb at the end? Seems like a a unnecessary step. What is the benefit? By no means am I knocking that step at all but just trying to get some more info on it. Thanks again
@BabaBruna
@BabaBruna 5 жыл бұрын
I agree wouldn't it make it easier for germs and debris to get stuck on the comb?
@DanCBearded
@DanCBearded 5 жыл бұрын
Great question! The first time you use the comb in your beard you are going to be covering it in beard oil anyway, so there can be absolutely not harm done. However, there is benefit. After you have cleaned the comb, there are small pores in the comb, even though you cannot see them. The oil is going to be clean and seal those pores. Especially if you allow the oil to sit for some hours before using it.

Well done! I did wonder why a comb-cleaning video would be longer than for brushes. I didn't think Kent's cellulose acetate combs were at all porous, although I could see oiling ox horn, which very well could be somewhat porous. I do wonder how you kept nearly all the gold lettering on the Kent comb intact, the coating comes off of mine rather quickly.

I use this comb every single day, and it is a good 9 months old too. I am not sure how the lettering has stayed so well. Maybe it is the oil coating after the wash?

Real ox horn stinks when you soak it. It smells like sulfur. Also, anybody who works with horn as a crafting medium knows repeated soaks will weaken it you usually soak horn to soften and shape it. A finished comb personally I'd just rinse and not soak then just shake it dry.

Stronger is not always better. Stronger can take layers of the combs and you do not want to do that. Beard washes are becoming less and less expensive. It smart to use the products the tool is intended to come in contact with, or at the least something similar
