I don’t know in your county, but in my country, muriatic acid is cheaper. What I did was I bought two gallons of muriatic acid and left the container submerged in the acid at full strength and got pretty good results.

I'm not sure we can get muriatic acid here in the UK where we are.. I seem to remember the name though... It might've been in another video that I was watching where it was used to soak rusty parts.. Where would we get muriatic acid from? Thanks

@@trollmanrs buy it in hardware shops . its also called brick cleaner or disclean..... muriatic acid is hydrochloric acid by the way.. you would get the acid and use it about 50/50 with water.. then let it soak for as long as poss then rinse rinse rinse ...... then it will be perfectly safe. its also used in swimming pools but much more expensive here in the uk for pools.

Great video and like how you're trying different methods... I am going about cleaning a 1992 MX-5 coolant tank overflow and it only has one hole so that's useful. Last night I tried hot soapy water and managed to get a kitchen sized scrubbing brush through the hole and removed a bit of scum.. Some came away but a lot of scum stuck to the inside still. So I soaked it in Soda Crystals (same brand as the Bicarbonate Soda you used I recognised the box) in warm water overnight thinking it would all disperse but nothing changed. The plastic itself is not too yellowed; I think because it's just an over flow and hasn't got coolant constantly going through it via multiple pipes like my Alfa which is similar to the one you cleaned on the vid. It's just scum attached to the inside which won't come loose. I think I might try the dishwasher tablet next...

Good luck, like you say trying different methods helped, but it is hard to get the stuck on scum unless you can reach it with a small brush.

Long procedure, and how much materials cost? And still not clean enough
