How to Clean a Disk Using Diskpart - Windows 10 CMD

How to clean your disk using command prompt CMD or PowerShell admin, with diskpart. This uses the Clean All command that will remove all partitions and data from the disk, then we format the drive, we use diskpart and it can be launched from CMD or PowerShell, does not matter which your choose as long as it's ran as administrator.

Is diskpart command less safe from someone else if they trying recovering your personal data?

It is more safe to use clean all command as it overwrites the data.

I'm receiving an error, "Virtual Disk Service error: Delete is not allowed on the current boot, system, pagefile, crashdump or hibernation volume." The disk is an SSD that I took from my old laptop to now use as an extra disk for my desktop. I'm able to delete all the partitions except the partition that is labeled as a Primary. The partition contains Page File and it seems to be the reason I'm not able to delete it. How do I delete this partition labeled as a Primary that contains Page File?

Drr, 320 Gigabyte disk is shown as 298 GB. I know what you are talking about, but some newbies may not. Use what is on the screen, not on the printed disk label!

How do you know which disk is what ? Is Disk 0 always the C:\ with the windows installed Or Do you Identify the Disk based on the disk Size.?

Not always, you gotta browse them and check carefully before selecting

I messed up my drive somehow. I tried reinstalling the OS then it came back with some error. Then I went to diskpart and saw the drive but had 0 0 for size and available. I did a select drive 0 then clean and now I cannot see the darn drive at all. Sometimes when I reboot I see it but other times I don't any TIPS on what I can do? It is a Samsung 870 EVO SSD.

That will be there for possibly HOURS but will still work correctly You’re better off typing clean because it virtually does the same thing and is instantaneous

You can just type clean instead of clean all and it won’t rewrite the drive but it will wipe it almost instantly

@@GMODISM I just needed to low format a 500 GB HDD and had terrible experiences with 3rd party softwares. Ended up getting the job done with the humble dispart!

Yes, if you want the best performance and lifespan of that ssd

My 500 GB HDD was showing a C5 caution alert on crystal disk info, and after a 'clean all'' command this warning was gone and the drive is healthy again!

That’s why before you type clean you select which disk it is that you want to be wiped clean

Well, I got many tutorials on recovering files from the dirves, but there is no "undo button" and if you did this cleaning the files should be gone for good... sry its the point of the video you know

Yeah it does, but for ssd it is actually better to use my remove all partitions tutorial if it is just for personal use (not gonna sell it) as it does the same thing basically, this secure step is best for hdd in this video (alas it works on ssd as well)

Just do "clean" as standard. This guy is a clown. Owerwriting every sector with 0 will ruin the life span of your SSD. Just do it if you really need to hide something dirty.
