How to Clean a Dryer Vent using the LintEater Rotary Cleaning System.
Just a quick video showing how I cleaned a dryer vent with this rotary tool. It worked great and as you can see in the video, we were able to get a lot of lint out of this vent and into the shop vac. This dryer is now able to dry clothes much quicker.
You will need the linteater kit (link above)
and a drill. (Remember to only use it clockwise and not in reverse)

I cleaned my dryer vent out today with a leaf blower. My vent pipe is only two feet in total length. That is a nice tool for long vent pipes.

Good video. Just bought this kit and we have a flexible aluminum dryer vent duct attached to the dryer right thru the end vent outside. Do you think this cleaning system may be too powerful for this type venting? Don;t want to end up damaging it. Thanks

Pro-tip: Do the outside first, so the bulk of the lint ends up outdoors instead of in your home.

You said don't reverse the drill then you reverse it to remove the rod from the chuck. Also you need to tighten the allen set screw on the brush attachment.

Besides a kitchen alarm, I’d blow out the outside vent with the shop-vac blower before refitting the dryer in the laundry area.

I noticed you didn't put any tape where the rods connects. Is or is that not recommended?

I have seen too many cases of the LintEater breaking when it gets twisted as yours did. They also get stuck when people forget not to reverse their drill or encounter a serious packed blockage or too many bends in the ductwork. You will call a pro when these things happen.

Have you tried the blockage remover that comes with the kit?

Hi Steve, I did try to run it through once on a vent that wasn’t letting me run the brush through it, the problem ended up being a sharp turn in the vent, not really a blockage issue. I would watch the rpms though on that tool to make sure you don’t damage anything. Thanks for watching! -Dan the Fix it Man

@@DantheFixitMan Thanks for the reply! My problem is the vent was put in where it goes down and then turns and goes straight to the outside wall and then up again and out. Because of this it's got water and wet lint in it. Plus, they installed it in a way where it's not easy to get to the duct so I can just replace it.

Nice video. You are a brave man to reach into a vent without wearing gloves. Birds nests (and droppings) wouldn't be uncommon.

Absolutely, if instructions are followed properly. Low drill speed and set the clutch to a lower number like 5 or 6.

You NEED to turn the clutch down to the lowest setting on your drill or you could break a rod inside the duct! That wouldn't be good! DO NOT force the brush!

The lower rectangular opening below the vent is supposed to catch lint that doesn’t make it through the entire dryer vent system. It’s like a lint trap. Thanks for watching! -Dan the Fix it Man

Agree. This video is "HOW NOT TO DO IT". There's a MUCH simpler way to do this without using these 1990s flimsy 1 time use kits that are a complete waste of money. I think Fred Flintstone did it like this guy.....
