Hey there, I just wanted to thank you for this video. We’re sitting in our house right now just waiting for hurricane Milton to come directly over our heads. As of yesterday, my Honda generator that is only ran for about 10 hours., was not starting after setting in storage for a while. I have no mechanical background, but using your video walked me through the steps and on the second pull the generator fired right up. Hopefully, after Milton goes away, we won’t need it, but if we do, thanks to your video. I do have a working generator again.

Thanks! Solved my problem with the Idle jet. Many other videos showed the other components to check and clean, but yours was the only one that only one that pointed out to clean that small hole. My generator couldn't even start. If it did it was for 1/2 second. cleaned that little jet and ran perfect. VERY THANKFUL since the generator only had 0.9 hrs on it. Maybe I will remove the fuel from it when I store it again.... for 2 years. :-) I did learn a bit more too with the other parts in a carb too!

Thanks man, just bought a barely used snow blower yesterday. The PO left gas in it, in his storage unit for the past 2 or 3 years. I got it cleaned up this morning and it's running well, which is great because they are predicting another snow storm in the NE. This really saved my butt and my back.

Dude, I can't thank you enough! Without going into the gory details as to why (!) my carb was leaking gas like a sieve. Turned out it was the needle valve that wasn't sealing correctly. I know zero about engines (apart from which end the gas goes into), but thanks to this video, I was able to take the carb off my Cub Cadet snowblower and fix the whole thing. No more leaking. Likely saved a lot of money too. Thanks so much. Greetings from Michigan!

Video is excellent. I'd never taken a carburetor apart before but watched these 2 videos, on cleaning and replacement, and it worked great. Before cleaning, pull start was an exercise in frustration and electric start turned the engine over but still the engine died. After cleaning tips from this video, engine started on two pulls and just purred.

You might be able to get friendly with your local dentist and ask for a No 6, 8 or 10 K file for endondontics to clean the main jet. They can't be used too much (work hardening) so as long as they've been sterilised after use should be safe. They're made for cleaning our root canals. Inset, twist and pull to remove debris. Come with a little handle. Handy also for water jet sprayers on your cars windscreen washer system

Yes, leaking needle valve. Sometimes it can be the seat that the needle valve goes into as well, I'd recommend getting a needle valve 1st and then looking at a replacement carburetor.

Impressive video brother. So much info in a very easy to follow manner! I still have a no start issue on my generator with the exact same carb though. Good spark. Plug looks to be getting a little bit of fuel after pulling a dozen times but might not be enough. Everything seems clean.....any ideas? Thanks a bunch.

Spray some carb cleaner in there, if it starts on the 1st or 2nd pull it's a fueling issue. If it doesn't start, could be no spark or valves need to be adjusted!

@@EliminatorPerformance Turns out it was water in the gas. Starts and runs now but surges as you described in this video. Now I'm off to watch that one, too!

Hi, I have a honda gx390 generator, I have removed the fixed idle jet and I can't see any hole whatsoever and I can't push nothing through it, it's like there's not ment to be a hole there, I red that some of the gx390's don't idle and just have a run speed, would this be why? it's more like a blanking plug than a jet, thanks john.

FYI I learned the hard way why not to use gasoline with ethanol. My pressure washer powered by a Honda small engine wouldn't start because the carburetor was all gummed up and beyond repair. Once I found the model number and serial number I searched the internet for replacement parts. Prices varied significantly as well as parts that were engine specific. In order to take the guess work out of the equation I found Honda's Engine Parts website. @t I was easily able to look up parts for my specific engine and serial number. It was great! Diagrams of each component of the engine were clearly labeled with prices below. IMO prices were better than anything I was able to find on the internet plus I knew it was the correct part(s). Honda should clearly state on their engines to use ETHANOL free gas only!

Most of them say no e85 (85% Ethanol) or to only use e10 and nothing higher. Thanks for watching!
