Cleaned one of these today that was soaking in Gasoline for three days , one of the worse I'd ever cleaned . This Honda carb was so bad the main jet came out but couldn't get anything to pass threw it , I'd been told not use a mini drill to drill in it in prior videos on utube video . But I did and it worked for me , for I tryed everything and the drill press worked out for me using a mini drill bit. The Honda mower is running great now.......

Thanks for mentioning to clean the idle screw at the end of your video.. I have cleaned my carb but not the idle screw and still my mini bike dies after the choke is off. This might be the problem since nobody mentioned it on other similar videos I watched and skipped my mind of cleaning it. I will give it a try and let you know!!! :)

Great video. Thanks. Another way to remove the tab on the cap of the idle screw is to cut it off with a cutting wheel of a Dremel tool. No chance of bending it or breaking it off.

Do you have a way to keep the carb clean using additives? Ratios? My carb gets gummed up and has to be cleaned every year even though I use a winterizer additive in it. It runs well when clean, slow and shuts off quickly when it has sat through the winter. I would love to have my bowl and nozzles and jet stay clean.

I have a plugged vent on the main fuel flow tube, in the idle section. I can blow carb cleaner through the small hole (which is shown in your video at the 7.31 minute mark, and get nothing (both fluid or air), coming through the main center tube, like you did. Passage ways are all clear right from the hole at 7.31 minute mark on your video, to the idle jet's hole. It appears I have a blockage in the center of the main fuel flow tube, to the idle section. Any ideas on how I can open up that port hole, to allow fuel to flow through it once more. Tried clearing it with both use of a compressor, and caned carb cleaner. Even inserted a nylon brush inside, trying to clear, and open up that vent hole. It's starving my idle section of needed idle fuel flow from the reservoir. Have any ideas on how to get that idle port hole open again?

Thanks for this vid! I could clearly see how the tube comes out and goes back in.

A high E guitar string works well to clear those holes too.

I guess reassembling is simple, but how do you know how to adjust the screw back to where it was that you take out at 5:45 ? Should you carefully screw it in all the way to see how many rotations before removing it?

of course.

Thanks for your video...i like how fast you went..right to the point. But you may need to concentrate on focus and centering. Half the time the carb was out of the picture. You showed me that i may have missed a few holes to clean that may be the reason why my stupid gvc 160 isn't turning over. Cheers.

The best and quickest way to remove the jet from the bowl nut area is to unscrew it and tap the side of the cavity with the handle of the screwdriver and it will fall out without using small pincers.
@matthewarendt44162 жыл бұрын
I loosened the jet but it will not come out. It just rattles around in the column, but will not fall out. I shook, banged, and tried needle nose pliers to pull it out to no avail...

The long brass tube with those tiny holes in it is called an Emulsion Tube. The threaded brass retainer for the Emulsion Tube is called the "EmulsionTube Retainer" (and not a jet) with the hole in the center of that retainer simply to allow fuel to travel through it on the way to the Emulsion Tube. The center hole is not a jet but simply a fuel supply port - and yes, if it is partially or fully obstructed it will fuel starve the engine.

Why do this when you can get an aftermarket good quality carb for less than $20 ? Just did it and the engine runs like new.

sorry for the delay in replying Robert. I am using carb cleaner spray, sometimes called throttle body cleaner.
