I have seen a few tests done comparing K&N oiled foam to paper elements filters. The K&Ns do flow more air, but they also pass a lot more dirt. For applications where the filter is unlikely to get wet, I stick with paper elements. They are maintenance free, last a long time and filter far better than oiled foam. However, you are are running a machine that may get submerged or ingest a lot of water into the air box, then oiled foam is hard to beat.
@Thoroughly_Wet3 ай бұрын
Well yeah, you either filter which is a flow restriction or you open up flow and lose out on filtration.
@LTVoyager3 ай бұрын
@@Thoroughly_Wet Most don’t understand that and think a K&N can magically improve both.

Easy fix. Buy two filters so you can use one while the other is drying.

dont oil the inside , only the outside , let the oil 'wick' to the inside so you dont hurt your mass air sensor .

Which side is the “inside” on a flat one? The side that gets dirty, or the side that stays clean? Nobody seems to ever specify.
@Cheeseluver14 жыл бұрын
@@user-fi6ve4tx9t I believe when you pull out your filter, the inwards part that faces the car's interior, is the inside.
@user-fi6ve4tx9t4 жыл бұрын
@@Cheeseluver1 I found the answer about a month ago, but I appreciate the reply. The dirty side (the part facing downward) is considered the outside and the clean side (part facing up) is the inside. I ended up taking the K&N filter out because it slow dripped oil into the housing after a couple weeks despite being conservative with the oil. I’d rather change normal filter’s 3x as often than deal with the hassle that comes with the K&N ever again.
