@@EliminatorPerformance I couldn't agree more about this detailed instruction video being thorough & complete. Great job and thank you! However, once I finished cleaning the parts well & dried I had an issue while re-assembling the carburetor, specifically the small bowl drain plug & that small O - Ring that seats inside the bowl drain plug. I found out the hard way how it can get pinched & rip when turning the plug with the hex tool. I used 3in1 Oil on the O - Ring, but it was a little stretched/worn & didn't want to sink into the groove when attempting the 1/4 turn required for it to seal properly & the little tabs on the plug that grip the tabs of the inside end of the hole cracked, rendering the plug itself useless as well as it's o-ring. The rest of the carburator went back together like new with no problem sealing the bowl, the jets cartridge, floater, needle, etc... The only issue is the plug & o-ring. I see replacement #'s for the entire Carburetor or Jet cartridge that you've left here in the description but can I just get the bowl plug & small o-ring replaced, as opposed to replacing the entire Carburetor & do you have the parts #'s for only that so that I can order them, please? I would appreciate it greatly!!! Again your videos are easily the best on KZbin, hands down. Please reply

I could not ask for a more complete tutorial. The last time this happened, after taking out the carb, I just bought another for 20 bucks. They probably cost a lot more now. I also installed a fuel filter and fuel cut off valve back then, so I won't need to pinch off the line. Thanks to you I am going to clean the carb this time and I appreciate your help and well done on its production. The metal carbs on the old briggs seemed to last for more than a decade without fouling.

I have a DR trimmer with a Briggs & Stratton 6.75 engine. Couldn’t get it to start. It would fire with starting fluid and then stop so I guessed I had a fuel problem. At 82 I wasn’t sure I was up to tackling a carburetor clean out never having ventured inside an engine before but watching your excellent video convinced me to give it a try. I watched a dozen videos and must tell you yours is absolutely the clearest step by step complete explanation with excellent video! You even showed how to remove the engine cover which none of the other videos thought to include. I was about ready to break it off after removing the 2 bolts. I knew you were a premier KZbin instructor when you took the time to list the part number for the o-ring around the top of the fuel jets assembly which might become damaged during take apart. The gold at the end of the rainbow was when my B & S started and ran perfectly on the first pull. I appreciate the time you take to make such an excellent, detailed how-to video. This may be the best 'how-to' repair video I've seen. Solid, friendly advice with a good pace, excellent close-ups, and simple steps. It includes re-assembly details and gotchas that others often gloss over. I followed step-by-step, pausing the video as I went. The only issue in my repair was due to my ignorance. I sent the lawnmower blade out for sharpening and tried to start the mower without it. OUCH! The kickback from the pull cord almost yanked my hand off my arm at the wrist! Apparently, this motor uses the blade as flywheel weight and kicks back with a vengeance without it. Thanks again for the quality video!

Nice tip on trimming the choke lever! Many seem to hate these plastic carbs, but I love 'em. Consider the simplicity, ease of service, entire jet system pops right out, and NO CORROSION, EVER! Depending on the equipment, you can even do the clean and not even remove it from the engine. Excellent vid as always.

My Troy Built mower with the same Briggs and Stratton engine/carburetor wouldn't start after sitting all winter. I've never messed with small engines or carburetors, but I found this video and it seemed easy enough. Followed it exactly, took apart the carb, cleaned up the fuel tank and fuel line - which is where the problem was. My screen at the bottom of the fuel tank was gunked up with old gas and when filled with water nothing flowed out. Anyways, learned a lot from this video and it solved my problem and saved me a bunch of money too. Thanks!

I bought a Snapper mower from Walmart it has the B&S 725EXI engine. I used it one whole season, then emptied the gas tank and put it away for winter. Got it out the following spring , filled it with gas, pulled on the cord and it would NOT start. Replaced the spark plug then the air filter. STILL NO DICE. Threw my hands up in the air and put it back in the garage, used the old mower I had on stand by since I knew it worked. Flash forward 3 seasons I see this video and the one about the choke system design flaw, I drag out the mower and apply everything you have in these two videos, pull on the cord and away she goes like a champ!!! DUDE!! YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the world. I was already going to wheel it out to alley for spring cleaning, NOW I can use it till the cows come home.

I'm a EETC certified mechanic and I want everyone to know not to leave any gas station type fuel in their machinery for more than 6 weeks. If you can get Aspen fuel it's all you need and I will stand by it. Run the fuel tank completely dry and put in some Aspen fuel. Start the engine for a minute and set it off the side till next year. Aspen fuel is good in the tank for three years and good in the in the unopened bottle for five years. It will stop your carburetor problems with this and it also burns cleaner then any other fuel. I will stand behind this method over anything else. Standard fuel from the pump is the biggest problem. Look up Aspen fuel and you will see.

I had to quit using Aspen fuel because the fumes burned my eyes. Also had other guys who couldn't race go carts using Aspen because of how it negatively affected drivers behind anyone who was running Aspen. Not sure why, but we've switched to Kinetix engineered, ethanol free fuel and it works great. Gulf Pro also sponsored us but their products were far to expensive.

@@Rabid_Badger_racing I get Kinetix through Power Source Canada here in Ontario, which is the Power Distributor for Briggs and Stratton parts. I believe the main distributor of Aspen got in an argument with someone and it's harder to get through various suppliers, as I know Theo Turgen and ESF Direct stopped selling it as well. The Gulf Pro Fuels is available only through a company called Small Engine Service, and their costs were unfortunately too much. Because I'm a dealer through Power Source, I get free shipping on orders of $350 Canadian, so I usually add a case or 2 of fuel (50:1 or straight) and use the free shipping on that order as an additional cost savings. We do not use TruFuel anymore as we had issues with their fuel, mainly because there was never a date code, so you could be buying 5+ year old fuel

From the detailed, thorough step-by-step explanation to the excellent camera work, one of the best videos I've seen! Thanks for your time and effort! I hope this helps me out! I'm working on a lawnmower that inadvertently had gas poured into the oil spout, and then run for a while. I've changed the oil twice, and it is up and running. Gas is getting into the piston after it sits for a while, however, and also leaks out of the carb inlet right behind the air filter. May be the rings, but a good carb cleaning is a small first step!

Excellent advice, thank you, will try doing it myself, it's true, this model design is very prone to gas crystalizing, because of the jet always submerged in gas, even after only 5 months of sitting in storage

Excellent video ! Thanks for not reminding me that gasoline is flammable! I got as far as the distribution tube. Now I'll pull it apart again and do that. Years ago, carbs were metal and gas had lead and there never seemed to be problems. Thank you for this very thorough article !!

Thank you for this amazing video. It gave me confident to open and clean my machine and its running now. There was two places I got stuck but was able to resolve it. 1. Opening cover at 2:22 mark - The Torque screw: I could not figure out the screw type as my mower has dust in it but listening to your video again and again then picked up whats a Torque screw. That helped. 2. When I take off Float and needle valve at 7: 15 - The needle valve was in the cup and I did not know where that came from. figure out by the shape and put that point part in and the intend part in the top where there is a space to put that in.

Hey man great tutorial! I have a power washer with this engine. I was worried I'd break the main jet distribution assembly and your video helped me confidently remove it from the plastic housing. I may have gotten it without the vid, but I also may have broken it cursing the whole time hahaha. I fixed my engine using only some carb cleaner spraying the jets which were plugged due to E10 gas left over winter. I ended up watching the entire video. Just want to let you know that I like your commentary and editing. This is the first video of yours I've watched. You have a way of including all the pertinent detail that's condensed yet understandable. You're a great mentor thanks!

Excellent vid bro...the only thing I would suggest to everyone is to not use a flat head to pry out that white plastic jet as it can damage the plastic around it and the seal as stated. You can push from the inside of the cab where the distribution tube comes up, then u can gently remove from the under..that hole where you push that tube down must be lined up before re installation... Lovely detailed vid bro!

My neighbor has this carb on his Snapper and he isn't very good at working on much of anything. So he brings it to me and the first thing I noticed was the choke spring was missing. Before I do what you just did is this a part that is easily accessible or one of those, you have to buy the entire carb or find a donor carb. Thanks man great detailed video which will make this job super easy! A part # for that spring would suffice also.

Excellent video. I have the same B & S 725 series 163cc mower with the plastic carburetor so now I can clean the jet to get fuel to flow properly. I took it apart once to clean it and didn't know that the white plastic jet assembly comes out to clean the other intake ports inside it so I only got about 15 minutes of run time before it stalled out and wouldn't stay running (starts and then shuts down in 2 seconds). Thank you.
