I have done this myself to all my cars and trucks because they are at least 30 years old. Finally had to give up on the old copper radiator on my truck due to hitting a car who pulled out of a shopping center. So now the plastic/aluminum radiator went in. The difference is that I soak the old radiators in muriatic acid and clean the core before doing service. I even remove the header plates and have installed new tubing in places as well as fins recovered from junk radiators. With a coat of paint made from asphalt dissolved in gasoline the repair is complete and looks like new.

I live in Florida, I got my first vehicle in the early '60s, a '50 something Studebaker Station Wagon with a flat head 6 cylinder engine. It had to be fixed because it over heated badly. I was able to watch them decide the radiator had to come out to be rebuild. They took that out and flushed the block with water and high pressure air back and forth several times, a hugh amount of rust and debris came out, while I was allowed to watch them do it, I HIGHLY recommend you take your car to one of the places and watch them do it, you will come-away with astonishment at how much crude will come out of the cooling system. Then they flushed the radiator the same way and proceeded to take it apart. The end tanks were ok but the core had too many leaks so they replaced that. The car ran like a CHAMP for years after that. Being able to see that was of immense value to me.

This is done all over the world, until recently my hometown In California had several shops doing the exact same job. I can't say they're still open because I am no longer using their services I retired. The number of shops was shrinking because so many of the newer vehicles have plastic radiator tanks with aluminum cores and no soldering needed often it was cheaper to buy new than it was to fix the old one. The leak test was not done properly because it should have been done under pressure equal to the operating pressure of the system.

You guys are excellent craftsmen so take a little time to build benches to work off of and storage cabinets to put tools in. Clean the shop up. Water tanks for cleaning and testing radiators and other things would be easy for these guys with the right supplies in front of them. They can make anything they need. Pressure test radiators in a water tank. Get off the ground. Build some work benches inside and out. Take a month of Saturdays to get this done. Paint things when you rebuild them. Have pride in your work because you do a good job with what you have to work with.

Many people don't know Very expensive radiator And is a major problem causing engine failure They solved the problem by changing the whole car. .. In fact You will need a refined radiator mechanic. Following this video, the car owner must try to wash the radiator with a refined mechanic like this. You will find that your engine can drive 600000 km. Still doing great work Up to millions of km, on the other hand, those who use the car to drive without caring for the heat of the engine Must change The car at 200000 km It's only good to get a new car 😢😴...thanks foe clip👍👍👍👍💖💖💖👏👏👏

Everybody is an expert watching this, and I am no exception. Watch the whole video and the radiator shop is not removing or adding any antifreeze. Antifreeze helps with cooling and keeping the internals clean, but, not to be. The working conditions clearly work and they dress as they please. They are pressure testing, static head is figured @ 2.31 ft. of height equals 1 psi when they have the rubber booties on it. They are not going to change anything that they do no matter the comments. Great video, thanks

By the looks of it, the owner used well water with high iron contamination. Just look how red the radiator is from the inside. We had a customer who's tractors radiator was leaking and instead of repairing it, he just used well water to fill it up every day. He destroyed the cast iron engine block doing that. It started corroding away beside the cylinder sleeves.

When you take those radiators off its also a good idea to flush out the engine block as well with a water hose since rust or other stuff can build up clogging water passages in the the heads or engine block and once its all back together and running and filled with coolant it might run a little cooler . here is an upgrade / modification to help keep bugs and dirt from building up on the radiator and to also keep different size rocks and other road stuff from causing damage to the radiator. you can put a sheet of metal screening that you put in house windows to keep bugs out for infront of the radiator . the Screen needs to be any where from 1"- 4" out infront of the radiator but be hind the grill . the Screen acts as a safety net to collect bugs and let rocks that bounce up off the road from other vehicles to bounce off instead of going into the radiator and causing damage and still allow air to flow through the radiator

@@Desmodromic916 I don't have to. These idiots are filming themselves polluting their own homes land. I recycle oil, antifreeze and my batteries. It starts with you to recycle and not to pollute where you live and thrive.

Edgaras L yeah but it’s much less harmful to the planet than throwing the whole radiator away and buying a brand new one.

@@vapenation7061 Only if you're the type of person who throws away old radiators. Most people get them recycled. New radiators are made from recycled metal.

Back in the 80s and 90s I ran my car with only water in my radiator in the summe with no thermostat, and in the winter antifreeze cars were built way better back then today these new cars are Po💩 cheaply made and made with plastics and over priced. America they sink ship in the ocean, salvage yards filled with junk cars that leaks hazard fluids in the earth, building oil pipe into the bead of the ocean, ship tankers spilling mega oil into the ocean. It's not your country it's theirs. In America the thieves feed you lies so they can keep both hand in your pockets so they can support their lavish lifestyles.

Alot of countries use a little bit of ATF, or baby oil since antifreeze is not available. My brother in law used to run straight water for years living down south. Then he moved north, and found out what happens when you park your car overnight when it's 25 degrees out.....

I have a radiator that needs repaired and over here in the USA there seems to be a shortage of people that know how to fix copper radiators anymore. I imagine the shipping would be more than a new radiator lol. Otherwise I would send it to you to fix buddy 😁. After watching your video I might give it a try myself first. I can solder small copper things and copper pipes, never tried a radiator before. Especially if I end up having to buy a new one. Be safe
