@cairographics7 ай бұрын
Hey, apparently the baking soda and vinegar thing is a bust. I don't know much about chemistry, but chemists have posted that It only works while it is bubbling. But then the baking soda chemically neutralizes the acid in the vinegar, and you are left with basically...water.
@Eishinryujoe3 ай бұрын
Yeah baking soda and vinegar work so much better alone than together, because as soon as the reaction is done it’s just salty water
@sausage4mash3 ай бұрын
@@cairographics yep Mixing baking soda and vinegar for cleaning isn't effective because they neutralize each other. Vinegar is acidic and baking soda is alkaline. When combined, they react and form mostly water and sodium acetate, reducing their cleaning power.

I second, third, fourth the idea of putting plastic wrap over the cleaner you use. I've also used plastic wrap over Easy-Off fume freea cleaner and let it sit. Finally, the next time you're at Dollar Tree, get little brushes from the crafts aisle. It's good for getting crumbs out where the door meets the rest of the oven. Finally, I always wrap the crumb tray in foil. Some manufacturers don't recommend doing that, but they're not the ones who are cleaning my toaster oven.

Here's a good trick to keep the vertical walls of the oven soaking in the product: After spraying the walls thoroughly with product, immediately cover with plastic wrap. This will not only keep the product covering all surfaces, but it stops the products from drying out. Even if you leave it overnight, the product will stay wet, and therefore continue cleaning. Cleaning will be much easier after soaking for more time.

@@amylynn3353 I'm not the person you are asking, but to answer your first question: typically the plastic wrap just stays up and stuck by itself because it's so light. You could always just think of it as "seasoned" and leave it alone as long as it's not smoking when you cook with it. Mine is grungy but works fine. So tricky not to get liquids into the heating elements. Don't want it to short out or worse. But you don't have to use the sprayer for many products. If it's non-aerosol just shake if directed to and open the container and pour onto a sponge or rag and apply by wiping onto the surface. If it is a pressurized aerosol can, just spray into some container (maybe outdoors) to get the liquid and apply by hand into tricky crevasses. Use cotton swabs or whatever to wipe it out dry. Don't risk getting liquid into the electrical parts. I would sure like to have seen what happened when the machine in the video was finally plugged in and turned on. BTW, those trays were in backwards at the start and end of the video. Seems like the rounded edges would have gone toward the rounded back of the machine interior.

The best way to clean a toaster oven is to stay on top of it and never allow it to get this bad. I say this from experience. My TO was so bad when I moved, I just threw away a perfectly working oven. I was so overwhelmed with it. I’ve owned two since and both stayed clean throughout their lifetimes. One just stopped working. As soon as a little buildup or crumbs start. It gets a thorough cleaning. Then it takes about 5 minutes. Same for microwaves and ovens. I learned my cleaning lessons the hard way.😅😅

Can I use this same method + cleaning products to clean a Ninja Foodi 8-in-1 air fryer oven?
@gocleanco Жыл бұрын
We have an air fryer cleaning video actually - very similar idea to cleaning a toaster oven. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmnGgnZ7bZx6Ztksi=FlATxBjA03YED90J

How long can switch on the oven after cleaning?
@gocleanco11 ай бұрын
To be safe I would let it dry out over night with the door left open.

Wow!! I will be trying this

Can you spray water on the elements to rinse them? Should you leave the door down overnight to dry it out?
@gocleanco Жыл бұрын
I would NOT spray water directly on the elements to rinse. Use a clean wet cloth to wipe any cleaner or burnt on debris. You may have to do this a few times. Just keep rinsing the cloth and wiping. And yes, leave the door open to dry out before plugging in and using. Over night is a great idea.

Thanks for the great tips and all your hard work. You are, of course, insane but luv ya just the same. If the oven isn't smoking and it's cooking fine, I would just put a cloth cover over it when not in use or buy a new one. That size oven is pretty cheap and probably took years to get that dirty. It wouldn't owe me anything. I'd rather work at my job to earn the money for a new one than spend my leisure time scrubbing a toaster oven for hours on end. But you're likely making some cash for what you do and we appreciate it too.

I wrecked my crumb tray, insert cooking tray, and air fryer basket with rust, so my stuff falls straight to the oven floor. I wish i had money to replace it, my oven/stove got unplugged and it'll be a nightmare moving the fridge,etc to get it plugged back in (plus that oven doesnt work right, so its just the stove.) I hope I can manage cleaning it, im not patient about chores. (I have hopeless depression and no motivation, so it's easy to give up.) 😩

Can you use the Powerwash on ovens when you cannot use oven cleaner?
@gocleanco Жыл бұрын
Yes you can, we use power wash on ovens all the time. We bust out the oven cleaner when it is really bad. For a toaster oven we felt it was safest to avoid oven cleaner and stick to power wash.

We cannot use oven cleaner due to having a parrot. Thanks@@gocleanco

It took me an hour of my precious time on earth to clean my brand new, big toaster oven and the trays even after spraying them with non-stick cooking spray. I had cooked my first chicken wings in it. (I actually think the spray made the cleaning more difficult because of the heat baking it on due to the close proximity of the heating elements). I won't do that again. From now on all the trays including the faux non-stick trays and accessories are going in the dishwasher maybe after soaking a bit? The inside will be wiped out but virtually impossible to clean it spotless after grease spatters everywhere. Can't even put foil on the drip/crumb tray because it's too close to the heating elements and the foil threatens to touch them. Forget it. It will get "seasoned" like my old one is (and I'm keeping that btw). It still works great for pizza, fries, chicken tenders etc. There is a toaster oven with a mostly non-stick interior on Amazon and it has concealed heating elements so would be easy to clean except people complained the bottom was not easy at all because it is ceramic and it cooked the meat juices to a blackened mess and you CANNOT put foil on it while cooking. They also complained about other things too. I had the machine in my house and it was way too complicated to operate it and it kept turning itself off. Sent it back. Thanks for the tips in this video. Will definitely start using dishwasher detergent for soaking n such. Somebody needs to make a toaster oven with a self-clean cycle like my big range oven has. Life is too short.

A self clean cycle!! That is brilliant.

You do know powerwash is just water, rubbing alcohol and Dawn dish soap? Super cheap to make your own.
