I was just about to give up when, I decided to check good ol' KZbin for help with this issue. A few minutes ago I was in the bathroom attempting to clean out my charging port with an air can, still the phone wouldn't charge, but then after seeing you give it to it with that pin I was determined to stick whatever needle looking thing I could find to rid it of its dirtiness, thankfully it worked! No need for a new charging port or costly Genius visits, you are the man! And as someone else already comment, I could also kiss you right now!

This video made me feel like an absolute moron. I've literally had issues with the charging of my iPhone for about 6 months now at least, and I had just become accustomed to not touching it while it's charging, because I would have to find a specific angle or position in which the charging would work uninterrupted. If I had literally just done the most simple of things in the modern world (ie. a google search) I would've had my iPhone back to like new condition in fucking 10 minutes. And I've been seriously contemplating whether or not I would have to buy a new iPhone or something like that. Btw if you don't have any ideas what to use people, I used a staple and bent one end out a little so it had a nice picking angle. I cannot believe how much lint was in there and how dumb I am for not just looking up how to fix my phone that otherwise had been in perfect condition. I feel HIGH right now, no more buzz buzz buzz buzz on and off charging for me. I can now happily plug my phone into my computer without iTunes and Photos popping up and going away and bugging out. This is amazing.
@norm77476 жыл бұрын
I feel you man, same here.. Been struggling with it every day, my USB port barely worked so i literally wasted 20 mins each day trying to find a perfect angle, i would have never known it could be that easy lmao but lets not feel like retards, shit happens to the best of us

I was just about to buy a brand new port lightening connector and saw this thinking 'yea right another dumb KZbin video'. Scrolled down read your comment and hell the staple worked. Thanks! My charger looked to be going in all the way but many times I had to play around with the cord to get it to charge. I thought it was a bad port. Been dealing with this for over a year. I found this video but didn't think this was my issue since the charger seem to go in all the way. At first, when I poked around in there, I had a little of debris that came out. I tried it but it did not work. I got way more aggressive and way more debris came out. I could tell I was now scrapping the very bottom of the plug that sounded like plastic (before it did not). It now work a lot better but still not 100%. I believe my contacts needed cleaning and I could occasionally feel them as I was doing the initial 2 cleaning. This guy is correct that it's difficult to damage the contacts if yo are going straight in to clean out the bottom of the port. When I purposely scraped up against the contacts, I was very careful and now it work like new. I think the combination of getting the charger a hair further in and cleaning the contacts did it. I used a long earring hook from my wife's drawer (don't tell her). I think it was much better than digging into that plastic with something to chard as this was probably the same gauge but blunt end. Side note. I purchased a battery case for my phone that would not charge my phone. I figured if I get away with plugging a charge cord into it and not moving it after I get it to start charging, then I could slide it into a battery case to always charge. Before cleaning the port, this case would not charge no matter how many time I slid the phone in and out and tried to put pressure on it while in the port of the battery case. After the final cleaning, I slid it in and it did not work the first time but did on the second time. snapped the top of the case, locking the phone in and have not moved it around too much. Hopefully this did work and bumping it around won't make it mess up again later. I think if I don't lock it in a battery case like this and have to plug and unplug, I will probably have a few times again where I may need to play with the cord. It was just getting really bad and the phone was not receiving a strong charge. If I got it to charge all night, I would take it off and 2 hours later be down to 30% with light use. Hopefully this will improve with this fix. BTW, I should have thought of this since my ear piece had to be cleaned with a tooth brush from all the pocket lint. I took it in for repair when it was still under warranty and Apple told me it just needed a good cleaning. I do that every few weeks now and now I can hear people without having to put it on speaker phone.

I dropped my iPhone 11 into the shower, dried the phone with a towel softly and then checked if nothing was damaged. I put the phone to charge and came back to find that it can't charge because it detected liquid. I tried tapping into my palm gently, still got the same problem. Then I blew dried it, nothing happened. I put it towards the fan for 5 minutes and then grabbed a piece of paper and started cleaning the inside of the port. After about 5 more minutes of cleaning, I charged it and it worked!

Wow! I wonder how much Best Buy was going to charge me. I had an appointment with them today and I was depressingly prepared to pay $300 for a repair. Thank you soooo much for this video. It worked for me. I thought my iPhone was completely dead and gone because it would not turn on at all while trying to charge. I used the pin that is used to remove the sims card. When I talked to Apple Support, they told me to check for debris. I used a flash light to look inside and of course I saw nothing. They failed to mention that I should insert a small pointy object inside of the port. I removed a lot of lent. My phone charged to 100% with no problem at all. Just...wow!

Lint was my first thought too but I couldn't see anything. Lightly trying a needle didn't work. xLike mentioned below, you really wouldn't want anything metal in there. Canned air didn't do anything. This worked like a charm. I couldn't plug my cable in all the way and it was like that for a long time where I just thought it was a broken cable. I bought multiple cables and then realized it was something stuck inside the port that probably just built up over time. I took a small sewing needle very very very careful and pushing it down near the bottom without touching and gently scraped the debris away with the phone off being sure not to damage anything side of the port. I turned it back on and all my cables work and its charging like new. I wish I would have done this a year ago!

It would seem pretty obvious that if the cable doesnt go in all the way like it's supposed to, then there is debris. I was just going to see if there was a safer way to get it out. I suggest compressed air in a can, and possibly something softer like a tooth pick rather than metal. Whatever you do, DO NOT BLOW INTO IT WITH YOUR MOUTH... When you exhale, it's not just air, it's also small particles of moisture and COULD possibly cause more damage. This may not be the case with newer phones, however, because most newer phones are water proof. Just remember that water PROOF, is not the same as water TIGHT... just a little extra help if anyone needs it.
