In this short video you will learn how to clean and deflate an inflatable kayak.
First, release the valves.
You can use a pump on deflate mode to suck out the air, but I have not found that to be necessary.
Then, unclip the seat.
If you have been paddling in salt water and you went swimming and the seat is wet, you may wish to hose it off and hang it out because salt water can damage fabric over time.
Same with the kayak deck - hose it off if you’ve been in salt water.
If you’ve been in fresh water, it’s okay to just let it dry.
If there is a lot of water inside the kayak, pull out the floor and use a towel to clean up the water.
Fold the kayak in half lengthways.
The kayak will start to deflate under its own weight.
Start folding in from the bow first (to drive the air to the valve in the stern.
Once the kayak is folded, you can slide it into the bag.
Put the seat and the folded floor in the bag.
If the kayak is still damp, you may wish to leave the bag open so the water wicks away.
Otherwise, you can zip up the bag.
All done! Now you know how to clean and deflate an inflatable kayak the quick and easy way.
