How to clean and lubricate or repair a BOSAL detachable tow bar. Step by step disassemble and assemble a detachable tow bar for cleaning and lubrication. Problems you get with this types of tow bars is often caused by rust and dirt.
This tow bar brand is a BOSAL but the principal is common on Thule, brink, westfalia, alexo and many other detachable tow bars.

Tack för bra instruktion! Tappade bort hättan på fjädern som trycker upp indikatorpinnen. Fick ta en bult, kapa en lagom lång bit, runda ena änden med en fil, borra hål för fjädern och montera. Funkade.

Vet du vart jag kan se hur man får dit en låskolv? Besiktningen krävt att lås med tillhörande nyckel ska finnas på dragkroken. Jag hade monterat bort låset pga strul men behöver nu montera dit de5 igen, får inte fast låskolven.

Hej. Nyckeln skall vridas medurs. Sedan trycker du in vredet och vrider samtidigt medurs då skall dragkroken släppa. Ibland måste man använda en polygrip för att orka vrida vredet om det kärvat fast. Låsets funktion är att du inte kan trycka in vredet.

When towball ‘clicked-in’ on vehicle operating knob moves to the vertical and not fully back to where I can see if ‘green’ and key will not come out? At this time the tow ball is firmly fixed to vehicle and wii not remove despite vigorous shaking! If I then turn operating knob clockwise 90degrees the towball is detachable! Any ideas please as I can’t lock the towball or see the colour in the space?

I also have this problem. I am considering to take it apart for cleaning and greasing as in this video hoping it will be the solution of the problem. Has anyone solved this problem in this way or lays the problem somewhere else? I can notice that the knob doesn’t move out from the hook to the right completely after turning when mounting and therefore it is not possible to turn the key into lock position. When I release the mechanism hitting the small pin towards a stone for instance without mounting in the tow bar seat the knob turns further and the knob goes out completely to the right and it’s now no problem to turn the key into lock position, so the key can be removed. Because of this I’m not convinced that greasing will solve the problem. Before I didn’t have the problem with the locking the knob also didn’t turn as far as when releasing the mechanism towards a stone, so this is probably normal, but I don’t have a logic explanation for this.

After removing rust with sandpaper and rust remover from the female part on the car where the hook is mounted, it works excellent. I can now turn the key to lock and pull out the key. The green is also showing. It is seen at about 11 o’clock position on the knob.

Well I am not really sure might be "locking rod" or something like that. I have to searched for parts but it seems like the only way is to buy a used towbar or brand new. Sorry I could not be of more help.

Witaj JOLA76 orientujesz się czy te elementy zamontowane w środku AK6 są takie same wymiarowo jak w AK4? Ja przez własną głupotę i nieumiejętność demontażu uszkodziłem sobie te elementy w AK6. Szukałem w necie i ciężko z częściami ale AK4 mogę dorwać w rozsądnej cenie, pytanie tylko czy bebech będą pasować???? Jeśli wiesz proszę o odpowiedz. Pozdrawiam.
