Hey Zach, Have you ever used foil ? Shiny side down, cover entire grate area and run BBQ on high until smoke stops. Everything under the foil turns to ash.... eezy peezy no scrub, just brush ash and season.

I use a Kraenzle high pressure cleaner. Then I soak it over night in water with dish cleaner. After that pressure clean again.
