Great stuff. You have the right idea to get the kids involved. Under the majority of situations the kids have food dished up to them already prepared, they may eat and enjoy it but if they have some input as has happened here they will take pride . Adaline has just prepared a meal for the family. Excellent result. Robert Down Under

Do you really think the smoke box in the pro is worth the extra money? Why not just put a smoke tube or smoke box in the grill and save alot of money ny buying the non pro model?

I like the secondary burn pot, but I make killer bbq on my Pit Boss vertical using a smoke tube as well. It’s really about personal needs. I will say that my Camp Chef has been more reliable.

Having a little helper is key.I have one too and he just turned six. We just got our vertical smoker, did it for years the hard way with a bonfire, and old heating oil talk turned pig roaster, and staying up all night feeding it hot coals. Started watching your videos when I got the pit boss and I been kinda binge watching, I love how genuine you are, I hope you blow up big, brother.

Question? I have a vertical pit boss smoker and I was wondering, do I have to use the water pan? What happens if I just leave it empty?
@TheAmericanSmokeКүн бұрын
The water pan sits directly above the burn pot cover plate in the vertical smoker I have. It’s the last thing keeping grease drippings from getting to the bottom and hottest part of the pit. That being said, The water pan gets extremely hot and can erupt in flames if drippings get into it and are allowed to cook down. Keeping water in it for big cooks is important. But, not as much for shorter cooks. In my opinion. However, you can reduce this risk by putting an aluminum pan below the meat to catch drippings and creat an easy clean up

Brother, I do believe you talents are being wasted on that commercial meat. I highly recommend finding a local butcher to buy your meats from. I've gotten to know my butcher on a first name basis, now he always takes special care of me.

You’re probably right. What I need is a local butcher. They are hard to find is this area. The closest one to me is about an hour out. I do need to pay them a visit though. Thanks for watching! Smoke on!!!

Great video! If I can request you try something: "pulled ham". Buy a bone-in UNSPIRALED ham, then checkerboard-score it, season it, and smoke it for 10 hours at 250°F, then put it in a deep foil tray and add a cup of water to the bottom, add a little more seasoning to the ham, and then tent it over with foil (seal the edges so it steams), then put it in the oven at 275°F for 6 hours (go to bed). Wake up to extremely moist ham that you can literally pull of the bone. It's that good. My wife found it on tiktok and showed me, then I found a few other videos on KZbin, so I had to try it for Christmas. It was very freaking good!
@TheAmericanSmoke7 күн бұрын
I’ve seen that done and been curious about if it was worth it or not. How do you like to eat it? In a pile on the plate or some sort of sandwich? Teach me your ways

Do you have to smoke the whole entire cook? What am I supposed to do if I just want to smoke my meats for only a hour or 2 and cook without smoking for the last couple of hours?
@TheAmericanSmoke8 күн бұрын
Burning Pellets are the only source of heat for these units. There is a small heating element that ignites these pellets but that’s not doing anything for the chamber. If you want to conserve pellets, I know some people will smoke till they get the color they want and then transfer to an oven for the remainder of the cook. I’ve never done it, but I’m sure it would work fine. Thanks for watching! Smoke on!!!
@justpassinthrough79 күн бұрын
I have had my woodwind for 4 years. Still runs like a champ. Switched to buying pellets from tractor supply pit boss, haven't noticed a difference, much cheaper.
@TheAmericanSmoke8 күн бұрын
Maybe I’m unsophisticated, but I typically burn the cheapest pellets. Usually Pit Boss competition blend of something similar. And my bbq is always good.
@christopheryoung1949 күн бұрын
Looks great! My only concern is cross contamination with pork cooking over chicken. Is this not a concern?
@TheAmericanSmoke9 күн бұрын
There is no risk. Not as long as the chicken is below everything and goes on last. As long as the internal temp of everything exceeds 160 or so, which all the larger cuts should, no bacteria can survive. Considering all the beef and pork are cooked to over 200, you can eat with comfort knowing everything is ok. Thanks for watching! Smoke on!!!

I was major smokin' meat this past holiday season, Wings, Ham, Turkeys and was losing a grip of smoke and heat. Because I was losing so much I didn't smoke a Rib Roast like I had planned. I have been making my own jerky with a dehydrator for about two years. On average the rule of thumb is for every pound of meat you will loose 2/3 of the meat weight. I have found I get one pound of jerky for every 3 pounds of meat. I and curious if this stays the same smoking it. I will give it a try and pass on the info. Love the channel and all the videos Zack, y'all rock !
