This will work for almost all Canon Printheads. Usually Canon printer heads are easy to remove and clean. Just soaking it may not always do the trick. Also, make sure you have ink in the cartrudges. This fix does not apply to printers with 2 ink cartridge system (Tri-Color and Black).

Cleaning Solution Recipe Suggestion:
Mix 40% windex, 20% ammonia, 40% hot water. Cold water is fine too, but hot water makes the solution warm and is more effective.
Another good solution for cleaning printheads is LA's totally Awesome" brand cleaner from dollar tree or dollar general. Mix 50% Cleaner /50% water (50/50)

Thanks for the tutorial. My takeaway was that you can really get it all wet and it will still work. I replaced my 2 ink cartridges and nada, so while I was shopping for a new print head, I came across this video and it allowed me to experiment. I ran it under warm water from both side and saw the ink and various "clots" coming out of the print head. Kept it up for about 5-10 minutes, then blew off the excess water, let it sit for a while to dry, put it back in with fresh ink and viola'. Worked like a charm. Thanks for saving me $45 for a new print head.

Good video. I appreciate it. I'd like to suggest one last step before drying the printhead. Rinse it in distilled water. Tap water contains a lot of dissolved minerals that will calcify when water dries away. By rinsing it with distilled water those contaminants will be removed.

I tried this last week and wanted to thank you for this. You saved me from having to buy another printer. I dipped the printhead in boiling water multiple times and opened the hot water on just a bit to get it to fall as wide as a straw to clean each color and after 30-40 minutes it was all back to normal.

THANK YOU! You help fix my Canon Pixma 9000 that would act like its printing but not output any ink. I microwaved a dish of DISTILLED water to a boil with 1/2 tsp of dish soap and soaked for 20 minutes. Then I used a dollar store plastic ketchup bottle and placed the tip over the ink wells and pushed pressurized distilled water through them. It never made a stream like your video but had a nice flow of water droplets bleed through the print head (like dew on a rose pedal). Dried it with a lint free towel, installed it, and now works like a new! Thanks again! GOD bless you!

Many thanks for your video. It gave me confidence to apply a lot more warm water and soaking time to fully clean a very clogged print head (extended storage). The yellow nozzles had a thick carpet of spikes and the black nozzles were just a ribbon of black. Printer just gave a B200 error on startup attempts. After a day of cleaning and soaking the water finally stayed clean. I reinstalled the print head and fresh ink. It needed the reset procedure of leaving the cover open until the head moved left (to clear the B200 error). First print test was perfect and it has been working well since the cleaning. Thank you.

Thank you so much for making this VDO, it’s helped a lot. We are using off market inks also, first we thought the inks were bad. I was going to test all the ink that we have to see which one is bad but it is printing out the correct color again now 😊👍

This worked for me! I have a 6-year old Canon MX922. I was away from home & ended up buying an Canon TS6220. One day after I got back I had the dreaded B200 error on the MX922. Followed your instructions & at first it did not work. Then the next day I had the bright idea of taking the print head out of the 4-day old TS6220. Well when I turned on the MX922 to get the print head to move so I could take it out, the B200 error was gone. I put a fan on it after I took it out of the cleaning solution, but I guess it was not totally dry. Kudos & thanks.

Thank you so, so much for this! My Canon MX922 stopped printing just black ink (colors worked fine) a few weeks ago. No error message, no indication of what was wrong with it, just no black ink being printed despite brand new cartridges being in there. I followed this tutorial/walk through and I'm delighted that it worked!!!

Couldn't believe it was going back in without a night to dry out in a warm place. I shook the water off hard, and put it straight back in. Remember. It already was printing badly! So I wasn't going to loose out. Major result. Perfect printing again. Excellent. Thank you.

Yay! This solution finally worked for me. I had just printed over 400 pages and then it started printing blank pages. Tried all the cleaning and wasted so much ink and still blank pages. I used a little dish liquid and water in a bowl and shook the printhead and did it several times until the water was clear. I ended the final rinse with distilled water as TBNTX suggested, dried it off and the nozzle head print sheet printed!! I will use this as a regular maintenance item.

Thanks for this video. My TS9020 printer was missing the yellow and BK bands in the nozzle check pattern. Tried the windex and paper towel method and then soaking in warm distilled water and even blowing on the cartridge inlets to the printhead using a tubing. No difference. ..... Thank you so much, I had no idea I could clean them. I had two colours blocked after not having used it in a long time. This worked perfectly. I used dishwashing liquid and rinsed it very well, under very warm water. Didn't have a tube but the medium water pressure on both sides of the device cleaned very well. I needed to deep clean a few times too on the printer.

I appreciate people making tutorials and hot to fix it videos on youtube. I follow them quite often and most of the time are quite helpful. Unfortunately I followed your directions to a T and it destroyed my print head. I have a Canon IP6700D. Prior to watching this video I followed another video which suggested GENTLY pouring distilled water from a spoon onto the nozzels. I followed that and it worked pretty well. However there were still some dead lines in the magenta. VERY FEW LINES after printing a test pattern. But it was FAR better than before. So I then tried this approach you detailed in the video, (I got a faucet attachment and clear hose) watched your video TWICE to make sure I did it properly and cleaned it until no more ink ran through. I don't think I used any more water pressure that what you demonstrated. I made special note of that, for you said too much could destroy the print head. Then I let it dry overnight. I put the printer back together, installed brand new ink and printed a test pattern...and pretty much EVERY LINE IS BAD! Its beyond BAD. Its a total NIGHTMARE. Far worse than any of my initial issues with the clogged heads. Needless to say I couldn't use the printer for my intended purpose today to meet a deadline and print an important label. I think I'm going to have to replace the print head. This might also be my first ever response to a youtube video (after using youtube for some 16 years). So beware, this hose approach seems very unpredictable in terms of destroying a print head, especially for someone without much experience. (I'm a pretty technically savy person too.) So I would encourage anybody to try a gentler approach (or approaches) first.

I bought a great printer from canon in 2019 for $63. And after the original canon cartridges ran out I bought generic ones. Whiting a month my printer started having issues where the PGBK ink wouldn't come out, just the colors. I called canon a few times. Tried all the different test I could do over the phone with one of their technicians. Until the guy told me my printer couldn't get fixed and I had to discard it and buy a new one. Hence my printer is now is $300 because of the pandemic. But then I came acros your video. And it saved my printer. THANK YOU!!!! I don't have a tube like yours so I used my water pick. And now it's working beautifully. Except that the printer's screen is saying that my one week old cartridges are very low. almost ending. But thats fine. Thanks again.

This is an awesome video! Not an ink-related question, but my Pixma MX-922 has stopped feeding paper from the lower tray. I've cleaned the rollers with alcohol, but it seems like the bottom rollers no longer spin to feed the paper into the printer. Any ideas on what I could do? I'd love to buy another 922, but Canon in their infinite wisdom no longer sells them.

Thanks for this bud, just finished cleaning and I am now letting the print head dry inside the enclosure of my 3D printer. It's about 60C in there so it should dry it out nicely while this print is going. I'll report back later for my results.

@ianide2480
@ianide2480 4 жыл бұрын
@@MYRNITAX This seems to have worked like a charm. I did make a small change from the exact process. I first used lighter fluid (naptha) to break up some of the clogged ink, I just got it into the nozzles as best as I could. Then I soaked the whole thing in a manner similar to what is shown here, using hot water with a splash of Windex. Then I used some spare rubber line from my fish tank to gently force water through the jets. Let it dry at 60c for about an hour and prints are nice n crisp once again.

So happy with the results. My colors are a little worse than before, but I expect that's from water dilution. But I had nothing from the large black and now it's totally good! hello. In my particular case, I have used these techniques for many years. I have been a member of the defunct Epsonian forum and nowadays I uncover head injectors with running water without problems. all those who only speak for what they read and have not dared the challenge of experimenting -there is the work of a professional, not to stay with what is read or the theory but of the challenge, to go further ...- there is heads nowadays that no longer allow these tactics, such as the epson L series heads, as a contribution to this good tutorial, it only remains for me to say that the results obtained with ammonia before washing with running water are amazing, isopropyl alcohol a sometimes the results are worse. Given the type of head this technique of the hose and the tap of running water does not fit its use for Epson heads so to a lesser extent it would come to do almost the same. I immerse it in the ultrasound tray and use different trays, ultrasound times and different compositions, depending on the complexity of the obstruction, all for home use. As you can see here-what is not seen in the video is the drying technique after so much water-only for copyright, it is not shown but I know very well how it does it because I also use my own technique to dry that not It brings any kind of inconveniences like they want to do to see claiming that minerals etc etc etc. Even the lenses of laser units such as cdrom, dvd rom I have put them under water but whoever wants to believe or not is only a matter of challenges based on experience. very good video. My greetings from Mar del Plata Argentina.-

Nice video. Thanks. My 5520 won't print black text. I followed your vide and still have the same problem. On the test page it's not printing anything from the PGBK cartridge. I have not tried a new cartridge (I'd rather not purchase one if that cartridge is not the problem). Thoughts? Does it sound like a printhead problem or a cartridge problem? I've done deep cleaning with no change in results. I did NOT do a cleaning after removing and cleaning the inkhead.

Thanks for the video! Do you think cleaning it in an ultrasonic cleaner would work for a really clogged head? I've flushed the blue printer nozzle on my WF-2760 printer several times with Windex, but it still prints an extremely faint amount.
@303electronics
@303electronics 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Try priming ink or water through the nozzle to remove air bubbles. The color will be faint at first, but then will be more vivid as the ink primes through. Ultrasonic may damage the nozzles actually, so I do not recommend that. If that is your last resort, try it and let us know how that worked.
