My husband works at place that rents the rug doctor as a result we get to use it for free. If I had my own home and wanted a deep clean I’d hire professionals. We live in a one bedroom rental and the carpet isn’t exactly new. For our purposes it works fine. It does leave the carpets damp and takes a while to dry. As a result we only use Rug Doctor in the summer. In our winter, cold and damp climate the carpets would never fully dry then.

What's the diff betw the red vs blue Rug Drs? Can we use this without soap (want a greener clean, we don't wear street shoes into the house). Is the clean water resrvoir same size as dirty one--so we know the clean water tank's running empty by looking at the dirty water right? Does the unit come with attachments to do stairs /cars/sofa?

You may need to start with a spot treatment before using the carpet cleaner.

I just rented this and was not happy. Where the carpet met the tile the water just gushed out onto the floor. Maybe I was doing something wrong. Didn't seem to suck up the dirty water very well. Doesn't hold enough water to clean very long. 2 passes and it had to be refilled. Maybe that was because the water was gushing out. The shampoo said enough for 4 rooms but used the whole thing and barely made it through an average size room. again because I had to refill so often.

will the carpet be soaking wet after the cleaning? do you need to use any tool to dry it out?

The carpet will be damp, not soaking. We suggest to speed up the process to add fans to the floor and rotate on an hourly basis around the room.

If you have Home depot in your city/town they should have carpet fans to rent out for about $7 for 4 hours or $10 all day. They do in my city anyway.

That was my fear also. Haven’t rented one yet, but the carpet guys at least drying time is faster and doesn’t leave a lot of water behind and it’s steam

The Bissell Big Green destroys the rug doctor. Cleans in both directions & pulls up much more water.
