Thanks Andrea I notice you have a 2 filters that you left in. Do you ever remove those to clean? They are in the center bottom one is a cylinder shape you twist it and it pulls up and out, the other is flat in a partial circle, surrounding the cylinder filter. Hope that helps. I am trying to find a way to get my dishwasher to fully empty water and actually clean dishes. I do run the garbage disposal beforehand. Feeling like going back to hand washing and using dishwasher for the drying rack.
Step 1 make sure you get anything that stuck or wipe out the dishwasher if it got food particles stuck to it. Step 2 sit one cup of vinegar on top rack and run dishwasher. Step 3 pour 1 cup of baking soda in bottom and run cycle

wows. This worked unbelievably well. My DW was stinky and the trap was covered with black grease. i didn't think i could clean something that was so disgusting. I did remove the black stuff by hand (vomit) then i used your vinegar trick. Wow. Smells better already. I also ran the Baking soda, but not sure what that will do. The vinegar i think took care of the grease. i am now subscribed to your channel. I appreciate that you talk fast and that your videos are short.

@davidstepeck2644Сағат бұрын
Nice video, however, the first thing you should do is remove the bottom filter and clean it with hot water and dish soap. Also, clean the cavity where you removed the filter. Lastly, dirt and grime always accumulate around the rubber seal but especially at the bottom of the dishwasher along the door. After doing the above, follow Andrea’s video instructions and your dishwasher will be super clean and odorless!

This is not just stronger vinegar, there's a bunch of other stuff in there like butyl carbitol. Look at the back label where all the ingredients and warnings are about not pouring down drains. It's use is meant to be used to wipe a surface clean with a paper towel then the towel goes in the garbage.

People overlook things like this so easily. I've worked in chemical plants for over 10 years. Major manufacturing plants have water treatment facilities on the premises. They help balance the pH and treat the water before releasing it to the sewer systems and environment. This is huge. When dumping acid into the water systems, the environment pays a heavy price. Thanks for pointing it out.

Thank you for this! I bought a house with a dishwasher that's like 10-15 years old... It works great as far as removing grease goes. But I kept smelling a funk, coming from what I thought was the drain. I ran an entire bottle of Dawn power wash through the drain, followed by an organic orange oil drain declogger and deodorizer. Didn't help. I didn't run the dishwasher for a few days, and when I opened it up I was like OMG HOLY MOTHER OF STANKNESS!! I removed the filter cover and there were nasty, clumpy, almost glued in chunks of nastiness everywhere and blocking the drain. I cleaned that off. I did this exactly as described in this video. I have a brand new dishwasher. It's AMAZING. Cleans better than the $2400 dishwasher in my old house. Glasses come out sparkling and I only use a little bit of rinse aid. It's amazing. You're a wonderful person.

I just got my first dishwasher. My dishes have a funky smell after cleaning them in the dishwasher. I cleaned out the filters. Now I'm running it on hot using your vinegar trick. Here's to hoping!
@jaymoneydfg3 жыл бұрын
Mine had that smell as well, I would usually hand wash my dishes & let them dry in the dishwater & they had this horrible smell to them. So I knew it needed a deep cleaning at that point.
@junkmale1233 жыл бұрын
@@jaymoneydfg I tried the hot wash and vinegar trick twice. I also tried the baking soda trick as well. I actually bought a pack of dishwasher "pucks" and tried that as well. My cups especially still have that lingering smell, so I end up washing them in the sink sometimes after a dishwash...I still can't shake the funky smell totally. Any ideas?
@jaymoneydfg3 жыл бұрын
@@junkmale123 the odor still lingered in my cups also..I think it’s with the dishwasher itself & the water that sits there cause it’s a very distinct smell. So I just try to keep my dishwasher clean but I don’t use it anymore.

I did this once. See dishwasher was new has a wire issue but tried using it an it wouldn't run the entire cycle. So didn't use it an didn't know it molded inside. Well clean mold out an closed it back up. So now it's fixed and used it a few time an it still got that mold smell. It's winter so I can't open the door and open windows to complete air out. But I'd really like get rid of the smell.. haven't cleaned the drain yet but maybe that has mold in it.. is that a possibility?

Putting the cup of vinegar on the top rack ensures the vinegar will still be there during the main wash cycle (the longest cleaning cycle). The vinegar (and water) at the bottom of the machine will only clean for the pre wash and then get drained away before the main wash cycle.

Hi there--I have searched over and over for a solution to my issue which NOBODY seems to address: how to get the dishwasher hose CLEAN. The drainage hose from d/w to garbage disposal SMELLS horrible and I want to know what the solution is. You can see black gunk in the hose, near the disposal--and I can SMELL it. Everything works fine. No drainage issues. If anyone has a link to solve this issue, I would appreciate it! Thanks!
