You need a video showing how you made that “air blower”. Nice work.

Yes! They look almost like flattened little worms. Use the blower after cleaning. Don’t re use the q tip. I wipe then turn it to the other side for the next wipe or if you’re using the tip, throw out after one wipe.

Thanks for the very informative video. Could you give some advice for cleaning polarization filter and the analyzer?

Someone spilled a bunch of spice somehow on top of my microscope. It got inside the middle where the eye pieces look in. What a mess. Smh I came to see how to remove the round screw pieces that hold in the glass pieces from the optics. There’s two indented marks so I’m guessing there’s an actual tool for these?

In the USA, at least in California, we can not buy ethanol over the counter except as vodka (40%etoh). So our rubbing alcohol is not ethanol with dye added in the US. What we have access to is isopropyl alcohol sold in various dilutions (diluted in dH2O). Iso alc comes in 50%, 70%, and 91% dilutions. Sometimes it contains a dye, but very rarely. Isopropyl alcohol at any dilution is known as rubbing alcohol (in the US) wether it contains dye or not. Is isopropyl at any of those dilutions, but with out dye okay to use in place of ethanol?

im having problems with my 40x objective, because im finding that i have to move it really close to the actuall slide and cover slip with the sample, it has lots of dirt, potential scratches and recently gott water in it because the cover slip broke from the objective being so close, is there any way to get detailed focus on a 40x objective without going to close to the slide or cover slip?
@sanskritiscreations9373
@sanskritiscreations9373 Жыл бұрын
Ideally you should focus the slide FIRST at 10x and then just move ONLY the objective to 40x or higher (whichever you need) without changing the plane of focus. That's coz the objective lenses are aligned in a way that focus plane for all remains the same so the user has to only focus at one and it will remain focused on all objectives. But if you find that after focusing at 10x and shifting it to 40x, the focusing changes, and you have to use the adjustment knobs to refocus at 40x, then it is possible that you may need to get your stage/lenses realigned (ask the company for service/repair, they'll know). One must never attempt to focus at 40x or 100x objectives coz the distance between the slide and the lens is so small that we run the risk of touching the lens to the slide and the lens can get scratched and you may also end up with a broken slide and cover slip. Hope this helps!

Can you do a video on applying oil on top of a brightfield condenser so you have total oil immersion? (Condenser - oil - slide - oil - objective) Thanks.

I will say the "danger" of using this or that solvent dependes on the brand of your microscope, Olympus, Leica or Zeiss, for example do not use the same "glue" to fix lens on their objectives

It is possible tonuse xylene to clean the objectives of microscope.
@MicrobehunterMicroscopy
@MicrobehunterMicroscopy 3 жыл бұрын
Be careful with solvents like these. xylene might be able to dissolve the lens glue that is/was sometimes used to hold the lenses in place. Generally alcohol is recommended. Xylene is also not healthy to be inhaled, so I would use alcohol (consult the manual, if it mentions this)
