I bought my Barista Pro in April, mine shipped with a gasket with a hole in. Obviously all my water came out the portafilter, not out the back. After reading some of the comments here I got on to Sage support and they said this disc with the hole in is correct for this machine, the hole is there to relieve pressure and it will still be doing the same job, she said.

Just in case anybody has the same problem I did, I got the pro and my machine was shipped with a cleaning gasket with a hole in the middle so It doesn't work properly that's the old barista express style gasket. I called Breville support and they sent me a brand new one without the hole. The barista pro comes with a gasket and no hole, no backflushing if you have a hole in your gasket.

I am a fan of all your videos. I have recently purchased a barista pro from Breville and tried my first ''flush'' with your video on the side. It seems like something is not working properly. I have written to Breville, but if you know what the issue might be it would be of great help. I believe I am doing the right steps, using the right filter, but the water keeps coming out of the filter and not the bottom like its supposed to. If you know what my issue is and how to solve it, I would greatly appreciate your help. Keep up the nice content.

The gasket with the hole works fine. I put a glass under the spout to catch the water and the majority of the water still ends up in the back tray. Its probably a safety feature to stop people splashing hot water on themselves when undoing it.

according to an article, backflushing an espresso machine is the most important cleaning function. cafes do this daily. if you pull 6 shots daily plus 2 rinses, that equals 8 hits. so every and 10 to 12 days is about right. the solenoid valve will be cleaner and the machine should last longer, or you could just ignore it and change the solenoid block...... which ever is more fun !
@bliblablubb07123 жыл бұрын
Right. I do it once a week. 4 shots a day plus 8 flushes (One flush to preheat the portafilter, one flush to clean the shower screen equals 3 flush per cup of coffee so to speak). I backflush and clean the tray afterwards. So backflushing is no additional work.
@beetole3 жыл бұрын
@@bliblablubb0712 i agree, but if you tell people to do it 6 times as often as the manufacturer recommendations, chances are people will question your credibility. also, many of the preheats/ flushes are clear water, so they don*t really count as full backflushes. according to Breville, light comes on after 200 hits.
@bliblablubb07123 жыл бұрын
@@beetole Sorry, I simply meant pressing the cup button when I sayed flush/ing. I know that a backflush with cleaning tablet is different. Lets call it just hits. So I make 4 shots a day plus 8 empty water shots (4 to preheat, 4 to clean the shower screen after the shot). That is 12 hits a day, makes 84 a week, then I backflush with the cleaning tablet. Hope, I got it right now :)

Urnex Cafiza makes cleaning tablets in two sizes: E16 (1.2g ea, which I believe you used in this video) and E31 (2.0g ea). Breville provides two 1.5g cleaning tablets in its starter kit. Would I get a better clean using the 2.0g cleaning tablets? Or are those for larger espresso machines that use 58mm portafilters? Thanks to anyone who can provide insight.

I couldn't get the IMS precision basket out of the standard Breville portafilter. I tried cooling it down so the metal would contract but, of course, that didn't work because any contraction happens to both basket and portafilter. I haven't sold my Barista Express yet so I thought to use its portafilter. This being the first time with the Breville Barista Pro, I thought I'd better confirm that the flush process is the same as for Express. Your video allowed is me to skip the user's manual.

My backflush disc came with a tiny hole in the middle, and thus- a lot of it pours through the disc and straight into the tray. I thought that was normal, for pressure release, but maybe the disc that came with the machine is just faulty then. Also I bought some of those cleaning tabs, but I managed to order E31 instead of E16. If you find the time of day, I would love to hear your input on these two issues of mine :P Thanks for your other videos, its been educational and interesting. Peace.

@tacocatt6808 Жыл бұрын
I know this was a month ago but here's the answers: There are two backflush discs both from sage/breville, one has a tiny hole the other does not, both will properly and thoroughly clean/backflush your machine, just the one with the hole leaks some water into the driptray through the porta filter. Nothing to worry about. The cleaning tablets comes in two sizes - e16 and e31, the e31 is simply the bigger option, but both will clean your machine. With the e31 tabs you might be more likely to find some excess tablet left after you run 1 cycle like mentioned in this video/the manul, so just do as instructed and run another cycle, no problem.

I think I know why. Your rubber disc probably has a little hole in the middle of it? Breville are now using solid discs with their newer machines that do not have a hole in the middle for the water to pass through. You can get these new discs cheaply online. Using a solid one sort of forces the flush through the machine instead of out of the portafilter
