Brush Used: amzn.to/2v24vDh With only using a mixture of 30% Vinegar and 70% Water I will show you how to easily clean green algae from vinyl siding. It is common to need to at least address a little

Great video! I was looking for a way to get rid of the algae on the siding that soap, water and scrubbing just didn't take care of. Didn't want to mess with bleach or spending $$ on bottled siding cleaner attached to a hose. This was simple, cheap and effective on getting the algae off. Thank you!

Easier product. At Home Depot. Called Spray and Forget it. No scrubbing, no rinsing, I use it every other year.

"....usually it's 2 rounds..." Does that mean we can expect to have to scrub the algae off, yearly? Or at least frequently?
@EverydayHomeRepairs3 жыл бұрын
Probably a safe bet. I made it through the year and everything is still looking good but that also probably has something to do with cutting the bushes back away from the house.

This is awesome. Question though, does this mixture also help prevent somewhat the return? We have used the Mold Armor in the past and it seems to help prevent the molding for 2-3 years. Just curious if this will help do that as well?
@EverydayHomeRepairs3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kim, I have needed to lightly clean those same areas shown in the video yearly. Cutting the bushes and/or trees back away from the house also helps to prevent future issues.

Will this vinegar and water formula inhibit the mold/algae from regrowing?

I had good luck since performing this cleaning on the siding. I think backing the bushes away from the house also help reduce the chances of coming back.

If you are going to scrub the house you don't need to use vinegar Just the hose did the same for my house. Issue is high places so this video did no good.
@EverydayHomeRepairs4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff, agree the brush is doing most of the work but the vinegar can help kill the mildew and at least reduce the chances of it just coming back in a few months. Sounds like you might be needing a pressure washer for the harder to reach areas.

10 percent hypochlorite is the best You use mixed with soap and sprayed And you don’t even had to use a brush
@alexanderx35543 жыл бұрын
Sodium hypochlorite is toxic at 1-2%. Vs the vinegar being used you could safety drink it from the bottle without adverse consequences. There is no chance it will kill any plants either, or fish if you have pounds around the house. Even if you dump a bottle in all it will do is adjust the pH but it non-toxic.
@Frindleeguy2 жыл бұрын
10% sh is insane. Surely you mean 10% sh diluted down to 1-2% for siding... If you apply 10% you're going to have a lot of issues.
@Frindleeguy2 жыл бұрын
@@alexanderx3554 You need something strong to kill what you can't see. We offer a 3 year no comeback guarantee and we use 2% or less on homes- an about 5% on roofs. Have only ever had 2 call backs after a few thousand services. Doing it since 2001, haven't killed any plants yet ;)

My siding guy told me never to use a power /pressure washer on vinyl siding and never any citric acid solutions,,it damages the siding. There is this alternative called soft wash less pressure and soft rotating brushes.

You are risking moving oxidation around and that will look horrible contact a pro it’s not that much and they know what they are doing
@EverydayHomeRepairs3 жыл бұрын
🤔 tell me more. "Risking moving oxidation around?"
@softwashscience3 жыл бұрын
@@EverydayHomeRepairs whenever a house has oxidation, you know like the chalky look or dull look? You can go up to the siding and wipe your finger on it in an inconspicuous area and you will see the chalkiness on your finger. If you pressure wash oxidation or agitate it with a brush then all those areas will be uneven and more shiny than the rest because you disturbed the oxidation. You need to soft wash siding and what I will say about this method is vinegar is an acid and works good to remove calcium and hard water deposits but even at that there are better products. The algae on your house should be cleaned with a different cleaner like what I use and it disappears with no scrubbing and I rinse it away with low pressure. Hope this info is informative and great video.
