Thanks so much for the well explained repair video. I have had a Bostik 260 since January 1983. That's when they were made in Montreal, Canada. Same problem you indicated and will follow your guidelines. Hope it works.

Thaaaank youuu!! I hope I can fix my gluegun. My hands hurt too much for pushing the glue sticks. I already burned my fingers while trying to finish my project.

I'm the person who engineered this glue gun for ADTECH as well as many others and I can say with certainty that this method of cleaning out this or any glue gun is not necessary and certainly not recommended. If you simply let the gun heat up, you twist the glue stick to break the seal with the silicone rubber seal, retract it slightly and cut and remove the part of the stick that is mushroomed. A new stick should then push through normally. If you do resort to taking it apart, leave it laying down with the screw side up, loosen (don't remove) the screws, take the cover side handle off. This way, things stay in place. Also, as I've read in other comments, a few seconds of applying heat with a heat gun can help release that glue sticking the halves together. A big blob of glue doesn't happen unless the glue gun is being dramatically overused. Maybe it's time to look for a higher output glue gun?

Thanks for the detailed information! I agree my gun was used very well for a specific project but I use it so rarely that I dont want to buy a new one. Cleaning it out was easy enough for my needs.

Yes I used mine for a big DIY. So What do you recommend in place of the glue gun.

Please don’t cut towards your hand when releasing the glue - safety- knife cuts away- first!

You can release the glue more easily by warming it with a hair dryer.

I thought it was going to be complicated with several parts but dang that looks like the most simplistic thing to fix. The hardest thing I fixed was chainsaw hoses. The manual sucked to see were things went. Well I fixed it it was so easy although took me 30mins my cat wanted some attention so I worked around her lol. Works like a charm now don't really know what happened the glue seemed fine what ever it was I no longer will have a blister from pushing the trigger anymore.

Whatever you do, don't try this on a "Gorilla Glue" brand glue gun. Impossible to put back together.

That brand of glue gun as Walmart is about 5.00 tops so why not just get a new one?
@sergytsema2 жыл бұрын
Cause its fun to take things apart and see how they work. Also this is the same principle for other glue guns.

Why waste the money when u can fix it? Buying one is necessary if it not repairable but if it is then they best thing to do is try to fix it yourself. Saving money 101 is to try and fix stuff yourself which is much cheaper and usually is an easy fix.
@bellaswan14592 жыл бұрын
FYI it takes around 10 mins or so to fix mine works wonderfully now. So I don't need to waste money bying a new one. Robyn I suggest you tinker with things you would be amazed how many things can be fixed in little time and how inexpensive it can be. If you can't fix it and tried that's ok then go ahead and by it. However the thrill you get when you accomplish something new such as repairs like drains, mowers, washer, dryer and more is so satisfying cause you accomplished it and challenged yourself even if it seemed hard the satisfaction of say yes I repaired that I took something that broke and was going to trash it and I brought it back to working condition. My uncle always taught me to try and fix it yourself no matter what it is just try as you may need the skill one day and even if I couldn't the whole point was I tried my best. It cost very little time to take a hour or even 30mins a day to see if you can fix it even if you have to spread it out over multiple days. The best thing is youtube is that it make it so easy to find tutorials on how to fix things where books and manuals especially manuals can seem over complicated when it's really not. I fixed a riding mower which was $1200 then new now around $5000 so I took the bottom off where the blade goes and all that was the issue was a spring missing. That was only $5 dollars to replace and some elbow grease. Manufacturers want you to by things once something goes wrong and yes some have done it intentionally so you have to go get a new one. They will never tell you beyond basic maintenance how easy alot of things are to repair and how very little they cost to do so.
