Ahh so running the whole thing through with 180°f water like it was brewing equipment was overkill. Oh well. This is a great piece of kit. Thanks for the video.

I absolutely hate this filter. I've used a Hiker filter for 20 years before getting this one in the xmas last year. After 2 trips the filter became unusable. Droplets of water came out of the filter. I scrubbed the ceramic filter many times and still droplets. The only way I could get it to work was with scrubbing it with a metal file and it would could clog up again after maybe 2 water bottle fill ups. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but that is unacceptable. My old PUR Hiker was easy and never once failed me. I'll keep this one around in case there is a zombie apocalypse but won't ever be counting on it.

This filter has worked for me in pretty remote places - such as the highlands of Papua New Guinea and has always provided me with clean drinking water and confidence, despite some pretty awful water conditions. My life has been dependent on it and I recommend it. Also, as Al Peto says - know your gear and look after it and it will look after you. Cheers, Dave

@@alpeto7793 He was commenting on the number of parts not how to use it. In my experience as an outdoorsman having more parts, such as multiple o-rings (like this filter) means more things to break and more backups to bring along. Not to mention the fact that ceramic can crack and render this useless.
