Not sure if you mentioned this or not but based on that "older than" logic, I tested out typing older_than:3y for 3 year old emails and it worked. Works for any amount of years. 1y,2y,3y and so forth. This might help those of us that have thousands of unread garbage. Thanks for the vid. Very helpful.

The only thing that sucks is you're really just moving everything into the Archive folder... so it's like having a pile of junk in the corner. It's not really cleaned out. I know Hotmail is supposed to be not cool anymore but you only have to select one message and you can delete (or sweep) everything from that sender. Seems a lot simpler. But, since I use gmail for business, this really helped. And made me laugh. Great video. Thanks.

Do you know who the sender was? You should be able to search and still find it if it's archived, then drag and drop it back to your inbox. Does that work?

I am used to using Outlook and now have problems with Microsoft getting it to work. I am currently forced to use my Gmail (back up) on their site for a period of time. Hi Jo Ann, you should be able to do a search by the sender name to see all emails from that sender. Then you can click by the ones you want to delete and bulk delete those. Does that help?

Yes, you will probably have to mass delete promotional stuff. You can also sort by "has:attachment" to get rid of larger emails.

When you search emails the have been archived, those emails are part of the search. When you find the email, you can add it back to the inbox.
