Goodness Gracious. I was just about to jump into the old fashioned thinking of "HP printer doesn't work anymore, gotta throw it out and get a new one". Then I found your video. I have black fingers, I used one whole package of Q-tips, but IT WORKED. My Envy 4504 is now printing again. I cannot thank you enough. It is so important that we do not automatically throw out stuff, just because we think it is broken. Humanity needs to re-use much more - your video just helped another human do just that.

Another tip! For us newbs, to avoid cotton getting stuck in there, use foam swabs instead. It's great for cleaning small space electronics and is even used on camera lenses. Excellent video! Many thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much! There was actually a "pyramid type tab" under my black cartridge which I removed. Printing fine now. Was about to buy a new printer. You saved me a huge headache!

I couldn’t believe how this worked and how easy! the pages from my printer they weren’t even readable, mostly faded. I was so frustrated. I bought a new cartridge, same thing and then I thought well I must’ve put the cartridge in wrong, I was pulling it out, putting it back in, nothing was working and I watched your video compared to the others that were so confusing and yours was as simple as ever and now it prints so clearly! I was using my printer just for the scanner because of the faint blacks and lines. Watched this video and got rid of 90% of the lines. I’ll go back in later to clean out the printer again. Thank you!

My printer prints blank pages. I did a test resport and shows all the colors except any black lines or text. I placed a new ink and doesn’t print anything. Not even color. Idk what to do

Was facing the same issue, remove the black printer head. Clean it with damp tissue and reinstall

I have a 8710 printer and it wasnt used for a while so I got new ink cartridges. When I print it mostly comes out green. I called Geek Squad from Best buy and had the guy do what he could for me. He did the remote cleaning 3 times and it did help but i have the same problem with the blaick printing, but I put in a brown image to print and again it came out very green. I have tried to find somewhere to ask about maybe replacing the head if needed but my model is now discontinued. but I thought would like to try what you did with my inkhead. Would that be similar on my printer do you think

Thank you for sharing your video. Great info! I have a bit of a similar model (HP Deskjet 3055A) at least as it looks from the inside. Like your printer in the video, mine won’t print black ink. I cleaned out well a similar area you indicated in the video, but it still won’t print black. Can you advise me on what I might be doing wrong? Thank you!

Sorry got confused. You removed cartridges but then shortly after saying that you said they are now on the left. "With door down you're gonna power down so the cartridges are on left" Sorry if I misunderstood

When I open my boyfriends computer it look like the whole in cartridge exploded it was kind of thick sticky like paint consistency. Can this happen if u refill a cartridge ?

I agree that the company stock has deteriorated along with their printers. I recently bought two at Wally World, and they do nothing but infuriate me. Their primary function is to make you waste ink, paper, and time. The first printer I bought was a photosmart 5520 - fairly decent - and set a standard, but now their standards are in the toilet with everything being made as cheaply as possible by the Chinese. It worked fine for a long time, but the ink cartridges were being priced to such an extreme level that I had to buy a newer model. The newer model had no standby, so I have to run over to press the power button so I can sit and watch the printer malfunction up close. I think the Canon brand is much better but still plays the same ink cartridge.

I bought this printer kzbin.infoUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 to replace an aging HP printer. It is just used for casual home printing so I don't need anything more. Installation went easily though the HP Smart Printing doesn't work well with our laptops - having to select the actual device. Will have to see how the HP Instant Ink program works out. Plus haven't been able to set up printing from smartphone yet - either direct or WiFi

You can get spills that print head cleaning won't get. I have a black ink mess under the print head on a Canon that I had to get with a qtip and warm water.
