What's up Dennis, I use Bick 4, Cadillac Leather Lotion and Angelus in a spray which is good for getting up under scales on python or pirarucu. I know that Saphir is great conditioner, have been wanting to try some for a while. I hit my boots with the conditioner when I get them, if they darker a little bit it has never bothered me, they still look good. I stretched the tight shafts on my birthday boots out. Used 22 oz. pickle jars & shoved in the shafts for a week, perfect size. Just got a pair of Black Cherry Dillion's in mail today, been raining, so couldn't wear them, bummer. Take care.

You have your boot conditioning mastered! I mainly use Saphir products but I’ve also used Bickmore products in the past. I’m glad to hear you got your Birthday boots stretched out, that’s awesome! I’ve been keeping an eye out on those Black Cherry Dillons and the Cafe Goat lately, and this latest 20% discount has really thinking about it, big time. How do you like the color on your new Dillons? They look really sharp online.

Tecovas said the reddish color will come out in them. I conditioned them twice (they were dry) and hit the vamp and counter with a coat of neutral polish for a shine. All the high spots on boot really turned cherry color, cording etc they look great. I love them very comfortable. Note have not received huggies with last 3 pairs of boots. But I'll keep the boots anyway. haha later..

After watching your video and then seeing the links you provided about the Saphir, I am a bit confused. I have those exact pair of Nolan's (Canyon Relic and Gunsmoke) from Tecovas as well as a similar pair of Rujo's. I thought you said use the Nappa on them, but then the Reptan says its for Lizard skin. Which one do i get, or do i get both? I am going to watch the video again closely to see if i missed anything, but I enjoy your channel. I have really gotten back into wearing boots again and have gotten 6 pairs of boots this year, and the same number of boots for my wife. (She has become a boot lady herself and she looks so darn cute in them I can't stop buying them for her! The more boots I have, the more boots I want! Thank you for any insight you can give!

No problem, I’ll be happy to help. On boots with matte finishes or two tone (mixed-dye) colors like the Nolan Canyon Relic, Gunsmoke, and Barrett in Rust Python, Saphir Nappa is preferred to keep the color from darkening and preventing a gloss/shine finish. You will be sacrificing some protection, but maintaining the same overall look. Saphir Reptan is good for all reptile skins, lizard, croc, gator, and snakes in a solid color and with gloss/shine finishes. For example the Nolan in Bourbon and Midnight color. Hi, I will be making one soon. The main difference is that for solid color gator or crocodile skins with gloss finish, just substitute with Saphir Reptan instead. Don’t over condition too much and buff well, it’ll add a good shine and it’ll prevent a glaze from forming over the skin. Hope that helps a bit and thanks for watching!

Got my first pair of real western boots coming in soon, a pair of JK western ostrich boots (they're a PNW brand that are venturing into traditional built cowboy boots) and was wondering if there's ever a time I would need to worry about conditioning the shift? Also what conditioner would be good for bird skin like ostrich? Thanks!

Hi there, congrats on your new ostrich boots! There’s actually a few conditioners that can be used on them. I think the absolute safest route go with conditioning your ostrich boots is using Bickmore Exotic because it will not darken or alter the leather at all (this is stated on their label). You can also use Saphir Nappa and you could expect the same outcome but it’s higher in price. You can also use Saphir Renovateur but it has the potential to darken the skin a bit due to waxes and oils. The key thing is to always test on a small hidden spot just to make sure like outcome. The shaft won’t require much conditioning since it’s almost always hidden from the elements, but every once in a while is okay, just to rehydrate the skin. If it’s a different color from the ostrich, please make sure to condition separately so you don’t get unwanted colors on one or the other. Hope this information helps! Thanks for watching!

@HeyDennisOfficial it's definitely helpful! Thanks a ton! The boots are black ostrich with black shafts, but I might condition them separately still because I'm pretty sure it's Seidels Max support in the shaft which is dyed through and I'm not sure if the ostrich is dyed or pigmented ontop.

​​⁠I would condition them when they start looking a little dull, dry, and are losing the new look. It’ll really depend on how hard you wear them. I personally rotate mine and condition them every 2-3 months. Just on an as needed basis, you’ll be able to tell I’m sure.

How long on the lizzard boots u let them dry before u brush them?

Once they look dry you should be able to give them a good brushing. I would say about two hours or so, this way the lizard skin can absorb the conditioner well. Hope this information helps! Thanks for watching!

I have the relics, been using bickmore exotic but i feel the black highlights have faded. Makes me sad. Any tips on how i Can bring them back ?

I’m not sure how you could bring back the darker shade on to your Relics, but I would say to let the conditioner fully dry and then just brush gently. Rubbing the conditioner too much, hard brushing, and conditioning too often can cause the loss of pigment on The Relics. If you condition the shaft, maybe you can pull some pigment down into a the cloth and maybe rub it back into the vamp, but not sure if it would work well. Always test on a small hidden spot before applying to the entire boot, just to be on the safe side and make sure you like the results. Thanks for watching!

Yes, it’s good to protect your boots. For matte and mix-dye finishes like in this case, I recommend using Nappa just to maintain the same look. Reptan is ideal for single color and gloss/shine finishes. Thanks for checking out the video.

@@billcloney7321 hi there, I would spot test using Saphir Nappa. That’s what I used in this video. If you like the result, proceed with using it. I think you’ll get back to 90% of the original color since they’re probably really dry.
