Such a simple solution for a complex problem. That’s redneck my friend! The hose vacuum is a beautiful mechanism. Cleans (almost) all the junk, while saving the water levels. However, we’ve been fighting the “silt” problem for YEARS. Tried all the little expensive doo-dads, tried using sheer curtains as bags, tried socks/tshirts, but NOTHING held onto the silt like this glove. It’s amazing! Buying several of these every pool season now! Thanks sooooo much!

I almost didn’t click the video because the thumbnail shows that cheapy vacuum that I have and I was like no, that thing doesn’t work! But turns out you had a hack for us *high five* thanks!
@sandyshank62662 жыл бұрын
Wow, I couldn't figure out how to remove the dirt from the bottom of my pool at all, it seemed like all I was doing was moving the dirt around. It looked clean after the vacuum but 30 minutes later there it was again. I tried this hack and it actually worked. Thanks big guy for this idea. I will continue this trip.

OMG you just saved me from draining and refilling my pool! I even purchased a good sand filter for my pool, which works fantastic but it does not pull the stuff of the floor. This $5 trick just saved me $300!!! 😃 thank you so much for sharing!

You are amazing!!!!!! This is the best solution ever! We have had an intel for over 10years and have this issue when it is a rainy summer like this one. It is only June and our bottom had lots of dead algae from shocking it and we have no way to get it up off the bottom. We bought a shop vac last summer after watching a KZbin video and it didn’t work for us. Ran out to Reilly’s last night and got the mit and used it this morning. Worked like a charm! You ought to be nominated for inventor of the year! Thank you!

Pool clarifyer will help so much too! It makes it easier for your filter to catch this fine debris and will make your mesh bag catch more silty debris too. Was a lifesaver for me

I was using three old socks inside each other and the brown dead algae was still venting back into the pool. I went to walkmart and bought a microfiber mitt with the little pompom nubs not just a plain one. I put an old sock inside first to catch the larger debris. It worked marvelously! Thank you! . I was seriously thinking of taking it down for the summer

it actually does work. I had my husband pick one up from auto part store. my house is surrounded by sand so it's a struggle. and now I'm battling what I can only assume algae dust/debris that appears in random patches along the bottom. I was surprised at how brown the not was when I was done. obviously you just have to move the vacuum very slow across the brown spots to not stir it up before the vacuum can get to it.

I will definitely try this. My pool is the same, it looks clear, then when you 'stir it up", it gets cloudy. Same thing, all the powdery stuff goes right thru that darn bag. Thanks again! I will try and report back. (wanting to swim again in Chicago)
@MomofScout9 жыл бұрын
+MomofScout so, I tried this and although it did catch some of the powder debris, it still had a cloud of powder coming from the glove. I also made a makeshift 'bag' by sewing a microfiber towel in half and tying it on the vacuum. Also, caught some but still had a cloud of powder coming up. It's a new day, and although the pool is much cleaner looking, there are sediments still on the bottom that need to be taken out before turning the entire pool cloudy again. Back to the store. I think I'll just be hooking the vacuum up to a hose and catching the debris into a bucket and then possibly needing to fill the pool back up alittle. Thanks for this tip, it did help alittle, but didn't solve it 100% for me.

Love such hacks! Nice you share it! I have my pool for about 5 weeks now ( 549 cm x 132 cm Intex XTR ultra frame). In these weeks I nevr got algae, only when I put it off fro three days some algae build up on the bottom and walls. Invisible but they got very slippery. Just scrub the pool with a brush and put the filtersystem on (I have a sandfilterpump and saltwatersystem) and they're gone. I could not get this glove qucikly enough, so I just used a tennissock (those long ones) without any holes in it of course. I did the job a lot better than the standard bag. Now of course all leaves were in the sock but on top of that all the sand and dirt too. It also seems the suction was a bit better or because everything was caught and no debris reentered the water (which happenes with the filterbag due to the much larger holes). So: you do not have such a glove just use a sock with some shoes laces (or the piece of wire used for the original bag, like I did). I only have to clean the pool every week or so. Takes half an hour.

I have to try this! Because my pool is crystal clear but on the bottom of the pool I have dirt, debri etc and when I vacuum using the garden house & mesh bag, it collects the bigger debri like leaves & bugs. But the damn fine particals go right through the mesh bag and down to the bottom of the pool again! Arrrgh! So, I'm going to try this and i think it will work great! Thank you sir for your video!

Instead of using the microfiber glove use a microfiber cloth. I bought my microfiber cloths at Costco Took out my sewing machine fold it in half and sew the top and the one side and left the bottom open and it fits more like a glove and then put my mesh bag inside of it and vacuumed away and it’s so amazing it works way better than the glove I used a hair tie to hold it in place and it’s amazing now every time I vacuum my pool I make sure it’s on there😊😊😊😊😊😊

I knew it. I was going CRAZY after spending all that time vaccuming just to see sand and dirt still there after it looked like it was all cleaned up. I would even have the kids make a Whirlpool to collect it all in the middle of the pool in a pile then vaccum it real quick. Fail. this makes perfect sense tho. I always thought that's what was going on. Thanks for confirming this!!!

Good trick if you don't want to spend much money. A couple of years ago I bought a vacuum at Walmart (also several other models available on Amazon) that hooks to my pump. It was WAY cheaper than I thought it would be and has been one of the best purchases I've ever made. If you think it's too expensive to have a "real" pool vacuum, I'd suggest checking around a little. My pool is so much cleaner and stays that way a lot longer. Also takes a fraction of the time/energy to get it that way!
@reddiss5 жыл бұрын
Yeah man I bought an automatic vacuum that blows the debris up and clouds up the damn pool but the filter doesn't take that sediment out of the pool so I'm going to try that as that's the only issue I have with my above ground pool and I hate it. Thanks man.

I will try this. We live in the middle of an orchard in California, and we have excellent, fine, sandy, loamy soil for agriculture...however even tiny breezes throw this dirt around like crazy...and into our above ground pool. I am going nuts, trying to keep it vacuumed out.
