So many KZbin detailers say to avoid cleaning seat belts. What a great video on this subject. Looked like you were doing some arm therapy when using the microfiber towel to dry of the belt. Thanks!

If you use drill brush, make sure it’s going in the direction outside the vehicle, otherwise it will spray the inside of the car.

Thank you! Can’t wait to pressure wash the seatbelts in the spring. 17 year old Honda with 285k miles has some build up as you can imagine. I’ll have to deal with steam and manual cleaning until then. Always appreciate the tips and alternative techniques.

Amazing difference Brian 💎It’s unbelievable how people can let something go like that.I’m sure it was killing you to have that fastened around you. You have an eye 👁️ for that stuff and I do the same the steering wheel is my number one priority.Glass is a must I can’t stand streaks and filthy glass.Thanks Brian for another video for the library 💎✊
@apexdetail858 сағат бұрын
Yes! The steering wheel is another area that can be nasty.

Cool tip with the pressure washer! I use a steam extractor from bissel. It also works wonders ;-) BTW: I would recommend to use gloves when doing those nasty belts ^^

Is it true that the seat belts have a fire proof coating ?
@apexdetail8513 сағат бұрын
Some....that wears off quickly.
@Potzii8513 сағат бұрын
no, why would this be needed in the interior? If it burns inside, you would have other issues XD

Pressure washing a seatbelt 🤔 I’m guessing the potential negative consequences are not much of a concern, or because of the time and labor savings (higher profits) the benefits outweigh the risk. Interesting approach I appreciate the transparency. Cheers
@apexdetail8513 сағат бұрын
What are the negative consequences?

@ A google search asking if it’s safe to pressure wash seat belts…”the high pressure water can damage the delicate fibers of the belt, potentially weakening them and compromising their safety in an accident; it is strongly recommended to only spot clean seatbelts using a mild cleaning solution and a soft cloth..” Maybe they got it wrong.
@Luxe_express40 минут бұрын
@dfd4688 As a professional we would inform the customer of the risks involved with deep cleaning a seat belt. Should they choose to prioritize cleanliness over safety, have them sign a waiver and charge accordingly for the work.
@SuperchargedLlama7 сағат бұрын
There's a lot of conflicting opinions around on this topic. I have absolutely no doubt that this approach works, but then to Yvans point that saturating the seatbelt material can damage and weaken it seems to be valid too. I assume you don't subscribe to the latter thinking Brian? I've never actually seen a belt fail due to being cleaned, it just sounds theoretical.
@micd92565 сағат бұрын
It does not damage or weaken the material. Polyester maintains its tensile strength. UV rays are considered more harmful yet not enough to reduce the tensile strength in any significant way. Cleaning seat belts using Brian’s method is perfectly safe.
@Luxe_express33 минут бұрын
This is a serious topic that needs to be settled with evidence and hard research. Until then, anyone's opinion is equally valid.
