We haven't cleaned our Litter-Robot yet (way overdue!), other than my reaching inside and wiping down the inside of the globe with Norwex envirocloths. Very intimidated, living in an apartment. But I plan to take it apart and clean it this weekend in the tub, thanks to your great video how-to!

Helpful, thank you! Just so people know, the litter level in the beginning of the video is wayyyyy too low. You're supposed to keep the litter filled up to that line. You can see in the beginning of the video that there's less than half as much litter in there as there's supposed to be. Keeping it filled properly will make it easier for your cat to cover up their waste without stepping in it. I know they lick themselves to clean off, but no need for them to get more waste in their mouth than necessary!
@Floppycats2 жыл бұрын
litter level can be too high for certain litters - unfortunately, it's not a perfect science because the weights of litters vary. i learned that the hard way - had a bunch of problems with it rotating until i learned that the litter level needs to vary based on the litter being used. and yes, this was low in this video because it was time to deep clean it!

Hey Jen, not sure if you’ll even see this as it’s one of your older videos but I’ll leave it anyway and maybe go leave one on a more recent litter robot video (I think you have loaded one today if I’m not mistaken). I just wanted to suggest you wear disposable gloves when you are getting in there with all of that dirty litter. I don’t have a LR just yet. I’m trying to decide between the LR or a couple of other new brands on the market that I’ve found on Kickstarter and the like so for now it’s a daily chore for me. I wear gloves when doing the daily scoop and I wear 2 pairs when I’m washing the boxes out weekly. My brother almost died from toxoplasmosis when he was a toddler (the doctors thought he likely touched some garden soil that had been used by a cat to toilet) and as a result I’m super careful around their litter. I am also a stickler for my boys not being allowed on the kitchen countertops. Hard to police during the night I know but as a rule they don’t go there🤞Sorry, I keep digressing! I also have a queasy tummy when it comes to cat/dog cleaning up so the gloves would have always been a necessity for me🤓 I am basically concerned about tiny scratches or other ways for it to get into the bloodstream. I have also been known to wear a face mask when doing their complete weekly litter change but more often than not I just pull my top of my mouth and hold my breath when pouring old litter out 🤣 Interestingly I read not long ago that the majority of cat owners likely carry the toxoplasmosis antibody but in most cases don’t develop the disease. Regardless, I just prefer to err on the side of caution 👍😉

Thank you - yes, KZbin sends me all comments (usually)...doesn't matter how old it is. Thanks for the tip on wearing gloves - I don't care about germs like that. I would wear gloves if I was working with chemicals before I did it because of poop. I think toxoplasmosis affects pregnant women because of babies and I guess small children - never heard of it for adults. I always wash my hands afterwards...yes, sometimes I pull my t-shirt over my face when dumping litter or hold my breath. I probably definitely carry the toxoplasmosis after 30 years...

What about a normal bath tub? what did you use to catch all the lose Litter. Aint gonna lie I'm a little nervous cleaning mine, I don't want to mess up their Litter Box (Or the Bath tub)

What’s the name of the seal that you can replace around the area that looks like sealer or weather stripping. It goes along the opening area where the litter dumps.

Hi jen how often do you do a deep clean and hope frequent do you dump the litter?
@Floppycats5 жыл бұрын
depends on your situation as to how often you deep clean - mine are usually every 6 months. dump the litter? i don't really ever dump it. do you mean, how often do i empty the waste drawer? about once a week - again that will vary on the user.

@@Floppycats thanks and yes I meant dump dump the litter and begin "fresh"

@@charbar85 I really don't ever completely dump it - the LR does such a good job at sifting, I don't really see the need. You can see in my latest cleaning video how I don't get rid of it and pour it back in - kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2G2gWCwiLN6aKc

Does the dome swear poop often? I want to get one but scared I’ll be swearing poop everywhere
@Floppycats5 жыл бұрын
depends on the poop - not the dome. If the cat has looser stool, then yes, if not, then no. that's too subjective to the cat to be able to answer.

Washing carbon filters does nothing really. The odors they absorb are chemically bonded to the carbon.

👍 it was a suggestion from manufacturer at the time. You can always replace them if they’re stanky
