If you do this (and you should), consider these mesh grill kit from Rennline so you won't have to do it again! Grill Screen Kit: www.rennline.com/rennline-radiator-protection-grill-screens-sku-e1002/

I have an '05 987 and I am gonna do this tomorrow. Thank you for this. I watched your vid on removing the bumper cover 2 days ago. I'm repainting the bumper cover and cleaning up the fogs, grills, etc. Those GD clips that hold in the top of the cover near the fender were horrible to get out. One was very rusted, the other broke. $18 each with $23 shipping to get them in 3 days. I had a few leaves, knew it, but now I'll remove the vents and clean the radiators. A two-fer, two vids that helped me out well. Thanks again

Just got a 2005 Boxster (2.7) 12 days ago as my first ever Porsche and will certainly follow your videos (subscribed already). As folks said, I only used shop vac for now and will certainly remove the bumper in the future. Since I just cleaned our house AC, was wondering whether using those foaming AC coil is necessary.

+Ho thanks for subscribing! Great question. I’ve never used one so I’m not sure.

Wow. That’s a great video. I’m into ownership of a 2008 Boxster S, and was wondering what it looked like behind the rads to the A/C condensers. So must read up how to take off the bumper now.

+Michael Keohane I have a video on that ;)

Consider replacing those AC condensors. They are prone on corroding, and relatively inexpensive. So once in there....

Looks like a great day project.I would have sprayed some degreaser on and lightly washed off to get all that road grime and oil off too.

+Bill Vasilis not a bad idea! 🍻

Had you cleaned the radiators ever before? I want to just because I thought it’d be a good idea for the summer but seeing how clean yours was, I’m less motivated to take it apart

I hadn’t but I assume someone else had

Very helpful thank you, as this on my to do list in the new year. Do you think compressed air would clean the radiators any further, beyond the vacuum?
@HelpMeDIY2 жыл бұрын
+Barrie Stevens you’re welcome! Yes, I think that will help get a little more out from between the fins. I was just too lazy 😁

I was told by a radiator guy to use 15psi compressed air. It works, and there is no damage to the fins.

I don’t have a compressor in my garage so I used my shop vac on ‘blow’ with a small nozzle and a soft brush. It worked just fine. I separated the condensers and rads by about an inch so I didn’t blow debris from one to the other. Nice and clean now 😊 and all ready for the summer (I also fitted mesh grills whilst the bumper was off …. much easier).

This is a very necessary (and commonly avoided) job.

+John Morgan I agree on both counts!

@@HelpMeDIY Actually - the only "trick" to this service is that you MUST put the bumper cover and the inner liner of the trunk back in the same place. If you do not, you can trigger a whistle from road wind.
