prep and etch from home depot ie their version of filuted phosphoric acid would do the same thing for $5 bucks with zero hard work and zero scrubbing, ha ha - luv the truck and so glad to see a young man showing some love to this old iron, good job mate

Hi, what finish is on that cocktail? I'm thinking of using your tip on a steel vice. Thanks in advance. 👍🏻

I found the best way for me is to use a sos soap pad with water. A little elbow grease and you are good to go. i use the dollar general brand. It would take two maybe three boxes or so to do that whole truck at 2 bucks a box. So thats pretty cheap and it makes your hands soft not hurt them. I have done about two dozen or more this way.

Wow. That's a great improvement. I like the finish!!

To everyone wondering why I chose to wax it instead of putting a permanent finish on it: The wax gives it a natural look. The goal is not to kill the rust completely just clean it up. If you clear coat it or put anything else, even a flat finish permanent product, it will ruin the look in my opinion. It's a farm truck. It's supposed to have patina!

Turtle Wax Ice paste wax doesn't turn white. Even on rubber and plastic.

Meguire's ultimate wax won't do that either.

Do you have a update on how this looks now? Or how you've maintained it?
@TheRober8068 жыл бұрын
You need to get rid of the wax and clear coat it then put wax on the clear coat. Otherwise it's just going to rust again. The wax alone will not protect it. Otherwise great job 👍

Logan, I am wondering, why use something temporary like wax that will for sure wash off, instead of using a flat clear lacquer? Thanks!

The white residue ruins all that hard work.
@natevanlandingham19455 жыл бұрын
I think that white is wax stuck in that rough paint.

Is that real patina or paint that looks rusty ? 👌

Nice work. The wax I tried on mine got into the rusty areas and turned white. I'm going to try your method.

OK, it's cleaned up some, but you should spend your money and time on some tires...they are all flat.
