If you’re vacuuming or painting popcorn ceiling, please wear closed goggles. I had eye injury from one of those popcorns falling into my eye and I needed surgery because those particles have metal in them. It fell into my eye, penetrated top layer and started rusting around my iris, blinding my eye. Surgery was painful and recovery was no fun. Be careful with popcorn ceilings 🙏🏻

I am a painting contractor. Please do not encourage your subscribers to purchase sample paint to do the touch ups . Most woodwork is either satin or semi gloss. Sample paints are usually flat or eggshell which will insure that your touch up will stick out like a sore thumb. Also, sample paints are the lowest quality paint and not really good for long time use. They are meant to just give you an idea of what the color will look like. When cleaning painted surfaces use Simple Green or a similar product and please use a cloth similar in color to your painted surface. This way any dye that is in the fabric will not go onto the surface you’re trying to clean. If you are touching up any surface with a sheen always use the tool that you applied it with. Brushing any sheen will make it shinier and rolling will give it less sheen. On walls just use a little roller and it will help the touch up to blend in.

I no longer do once in a while cleanings so to say. I've adopted a more forgiving cleaning schedule for me. My new mantra at the moment is "a little is better than not doing it" so there are days where I just want to run a vacuum around to pick up what I can and just do what I can. Then twice a month I'll actually make the effort of moving things off the floor. Same with walls. I run my OXO duster over the walls a few times a week just to keep up with it. I found I stopped cleaning because having to haul things around to clean under seemed like too much and needed a special day and then everything just keeps getting dirtier to where it is a chore. You actually helped me despite the fact I don't follow all of your suggestions. So thanks. I bought your mop and I love it.

That is so true. If you can't get the motivation to do a thorough cleaning, just do 15 - 30 minutes and it will keep things in check until you are able to get to it. I love the techniques and suggestions here, but no, I don't have the time nor inclination to be as thorough as MM is.

Unfortunately if you have a matte finish on your walls, wiping away any scuff marks leaves “wipe” marks as it almost wipes away the finish. I was told when our house was being painted that the matte is ultra durable but sadly that’s not the case!
@kevinbirge4423 жыл бұрын
Matte shows less imperfections, but it usually isn't wipeable like a higher sheen would be. I often suggest an eggshell sheen to my customers if someone wants to see less imperfections but still would like an easier cleaning surface. However, some mattes (or flats) are very washable and scrubbable depending on the hardness of the resin used to manufacture them. These can be scrubbed enough to remove any dirt, will stay clean, and won't burnish (shine) from the scrubbing.
@katelynjohnston40813 жыл бұрын
@@kevinbirge442 Our painters used Benjamin Moore Regal. When they asked what finish I wanted, I stated that I wanted what they would typically use, and something that would be durable and easy to clean. They told me everyone is moving to this flat matte instead of eggshell and if you need to touch up you won’t have to paint a whole wall, just the area needing touch up. Fast forward to after painting and I find a mark on the wall that I gently scrubbed with a damp cloth. Now all you can see is wipe marks months later! I am so disappointed. I am so confused why they told me it was easy to clean!

I moved in to my house 5 years ago, it used to be a smoker's home, we painted with a primer mixed in the paint never cleaned the smoke residue and looks fine but I've been wanting to clean my walls and repaint but am grossed out to smell and see the smoke residue, I would not use a microfiber cloth unless I'm going to throw it out. What do you suggest I do?

I love your videos, thank you! Do you have any tips for dust control? I live in the desert and no matter what I do it is very hard to keep the house dust free. Thank you for all your smart tips to keep a clean house.

Your enzyme cleaner link goes to a product called Heal Earth, which is a Castile Soap: no reference to enzymes...Plus it was in Spanish....Great show, you are very natural.🌸

The enzymatic link is Dr Bonners? Is that correct?

@cleanmyspace Would it be okay to add a few drops of a calming essential oil when cleaning walls?
