From my experience using my ultrasonic cleaner for small carburetor parts. You can take a small sandwich bag and fill it up a little with your cleaning solution, put your small parts in there. Submerge it in the cleaner and it works just as well. And keeps all the tiny bits together.

Another great video Rob! I have an ultrasonic cleaner and had a bad experience- i cleaned my wifes glasses, and mine, using the cleaner and scratched the lenses so bad the glasses were unusable! Just days before a vacation! It was totally my fault, I used the Harbor Freight powder cleanser that came with ultrasonic cleaner. My tip: always use a liquid soap! A drop or two of dish soap works well for me.

Great video as usual. I like using a fine screen tea infuser ball for the small parts of the airbrush like the tip and nozzle. Normally don't fool with ultrasonic cleaning the lever parts around the button or the back end of the brush where no paint goes. Mostly use the ultrasonic cleaner for the paint cup, needle, tip and nozzle and areas the paint got on. The ultrasonic cleaner works great on paint brushes used with acrylics, gets the paint out of the ferrule, paint residue just boils out!

I started with a small 40khz cleaner and it was great for basic cleaning. Then I tried a friend's 45khz cleaner and that thing works so much better. it'll break away old, dried paint super quick. ultrasonic cleaners (at least a 1L capacity) is essential for airbrushers and resin kit builders!

I have the same ultrasonic cleaner and it has a huge design flaw. The stainless steel tubs does not go all the way to the top and to edge but instead meets a plastic lip on the way up. The seal between the tub and plastic shell is notorious for failing so when you pour out the water it gets on the inside of the machine causing a short. Always syphon out the liquid and towel out the last bit left over.

There's an auto parts guy that ran several tests and found best results by keeping clean water int he tank and putting parts to be cleaned in a glass jar filled with your cleaning solution. Big bonus is that it lets you use the same tank water over and over and massively reduces maintenance.

My recommendation is to use distilled water plus some Simple Green Aircraft & Precision Cleaner (around $25-30 for a gallon that will last forever). Works way better than anything else for cleaning precision parts like this.
@scefen Жыл бұрын
Isn’t it necessary to rinse the parts with water after using detergent in the ultrasonic cleaner? Some detergent must follow the piece when taking it out of the cleaner that could interfere with paint adherence when you will paint the parts later on? Or is that not a problem at all?
@bh.29123 жыл бұрын
Great and informative as always! Did have a few questions though, if you have the time to answer: When putting the whole (or most of a) kit into the cleaner, how do you keep track of the pieces during a build? As in, how do you keep track of what is part A15 etc.? I imagine you just know "Oh, these are arm parts" etc. over time, but short of doing each section in the cleaner separately, I'd be worried about losing track of what goes where without the runner markings to guide me. Thanks for another quality video, and congrats on the paint line!
@barbatosrex94733 жыл бұрын
I photo copy the instructions. Then I cut out each section and put that in a cup, jar or whatever you use and put the parts that go with that section in that jar. Sometimes I'll mark the back of the piece with a sharpie. Then I'll just clean each section on its own and put it back in the jar with the cut out section of the instructions

Hi from Spain. I would use the plastic tray when you put things in the ultrasonic cleaner since the vibrations of metal with metal can damage them. I have an ultrasonic cleaner but seldom use it since I clean my airbrush throughly after each paint session. I remember when I received mine, cleaned my airbrush and there was no dirty left on the water. After that I use it mainly for cleaning watches and other stuff. Keep up with your channel. I love the in depth analysis you do of the different subjects you bring. Kind regards, Angel

I like the way present the cleaning of the airbrush and the model parts. I think if I were going to wash small model parts, I leave everything on the sprue and cut the sprue down so that it would fit into the ultrasound; that you would still have all of the parts tagged.

These are great for airbrushes however for runners it's easier to use a large flat container filled with water and Dawn and soak the entire runners, soft bristle brush scrub then wipe clean and get working. These machines are a lifesaver for airbrushes though, definitely worth the $100 or so if you do a lot of painting.

Turn on the ultrasonic cleaner for ten minutes. It looks new as day one. Note: do not submerged the airbrush pass the trigger opening on the air brush. And my air brush are the Iwata HP-C+ and the Revolution they both have no O ring on the nozzle area.

I have one and generally only use it on kits with horrible nubs. Most of the times sanding and buffing cleans the parts enough. However, some kits like MG Deathscythe have absolutely horrible nubs and even when you shave them down they leave marks and lots of residue from the sanding so this ckeans them up so well

Ultrasonic cleaners work great especially when you have stuff that has very fine ports. Back when I would do hand drafting using a technical pen set, the finest pen I would use was 6X0 (0.13mm). There was no way to clean the needle port without using an ultrasonic cleaner. Back then, the cleaners, even a small one were very expensive. I don't know why I never thought of using one for my airbrush.

I don't know what did this but I had to change the O ring of the air valve. Well' it is more the trigger 's, the smallest one that goes arround the trigger pin which press on the air valve. It swelled so the trigger did not want to go back up. It took a little while for me to understand what was going on with it. It most have been some solutions that I used in the ultrasonic. Could be just the high heat too, whci I suspect the most. . It was a good thing that NEOECO provided few of them with the airbrush.

I usually just remove all the o rings and teflon seals and clean the main body of my airbrush with a thinner witch is a mix of 1 metoxy 2 propanol and Xylene. I just let it stay for a little bit of time because I dont want to destroy my airbrush. Then I blow it clean with air from a aersol can. But wery nice cleaner I guess this is a good thing for water based acrylics but I dont thing the warm water will remove lacquer/enamel unless its already dissolved in thinner.

I’m kind of skeptical of the degassing feature seems like an unecessary feature as I’ve never had an issue needing to gas out liquids I pour directly into it and it cleans just fine but hey if you got it… sure, why not I guess. I probably wouldn’t put the needle in since it is too easy for the tip to get bent vibrating around in there. I just clean the needle by hand with some Flitz polish.
